I Told You Driving Was Bad For Your Health! *2/2* NEW TRIP REPORT LINK P102

It really was a great experience. I definitely recommend it. It's such a great way to view the world. I haven't enjoyed a view that much since I went to the top of the WL. :rotfl: I would have taken that many pictures even if I had gone on more rides. I just would have skipped the ride back to the condo. :rotfl: I really enjoyed our time there. I just should have gotten out of the lazy river a little sooner. The family ride at BB is amazing. We did it in October. So. Much. Fun. :thumbsup2 I love all the raft rides too. Also not a fan of the body slides and water wedgies. Thanks! I really can't wait to stay there. It's going to be so amazing! I just commented! If only I had arrived a day earlier. Maybe I could have crashed too. You better call me when its time for the Poly crash! YAY! :cool1: We had such a fun night at MK. Perfect weather. And being almost the only ones on POTC was pretty fun. Thanks. We loved it. I really recommend you give it a try. You definitely won't regret it. The view is amazing and it just feels so amazing to be that high up in the air with no one around. Thanks. It really is exciting. I honestly can't wait to stay there. It's going to be great! We really should go. It was just breath taking up there. I loved every minute of it. Not scary at all - just really COOL! I know you have very sensitive skin so perhaps you can relate somewhat. Fortunately it didn't last long, but it was odd. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before and at first I was sure I had a chemical burn. Ouch. But you have to admit you know what I'm talking about. If you don't then you just need to get around a few pharmaceutical sales reps. :rolleyes1 Very great day. Can you believe that about the UY? That was definitely almost a deal killer, but then it seemed silly to not buy because we had the misfortune of having the wrong UY. I'm glad we didn't let that deter us. :thumbsup2 .
oh yes, I know exactly what you mean! Ex #1 was a med student, we were wined and dined...and wife #2 is/was a drug rep (not one who wined and dined us though, this one waited till he had his own practice lol) so yeah...know the type well!

I am totally in on the balloon! I'd love to do it in December but the wallet doesn't like the # of tickets is have to buy :) uno is muy better!

You don't have a wrong UY just bad luck on the date they declared it for.

Wow, a lot of things happened in this update!

I'm too chicken to go in the Characters of Flight balloon, so I really enjoyed seeing your pictures. It's always fun spotting those park icons from afar. And the resorts still look beautiful from up high! :goodvibes

Sorry that the water park irritated your skin. I have extremely sensitive skin, as well, and I know the resort pools can be too chlorinated and cause that burning feel, too. I guess Disney would rather ensure the water areas are as sanitized as possible than worrying about what it's doing to guests. :confused3

A spur of the moment DVC purchase......I can't imagine. It had to be unbelievably exciting to do something that spontaneous, but I can only imagine your nerves were a little frazzled when it finally sunk in what you'd just done. :rotfl2:
From the pictures and videos of the villas that I've seen, the rooms look absolutely stunning. Disney did a really good job with them, so I am sure you'll enjoy your stays when you go. Plus, as you said, that would make one great wedding gift in the future.

Just back from our new joint home resort Mary Ellen, and let me just say, it's AMAZING!!!! Can't wait to show you the pictures. We were blown away. Mom and I actually liked it better than the main GF building, it's so private and gorgeous. Officially the smallest DVC resort.

Very cool you did the Flights of Wonder. Great pictures, my favorite is the one with all the strings. I can't go back and read all the chit chat so hopefully I'm not repeating anything.

We love TL! BB was the only one open this trip and we did get there for the afternoon. Sorry the water burned you, can't imagine how uncomfortable that was. Did you at least rinse off in the outside showers? Loved the pictures, felt like I was right there with you.

Love that Denny was onboard. I will warn you, the studio has very little storage because of the murphy bed. I lived out of the suitcase which I don't like to do. It made packing really easy though.

Welcome Back Pam & Alicia! Hope you both had a great time.

Full replies tomorrow. I promise. I just literally fell asleep with my computer on my lap so I think I bet do replies tomorrow.

Woo hoo, water park visit!!!!!

It was really fun! I am really enjoying the WP part of the the PAP. We went to BB in October and it was such a nice change from a crowded park.

That's not a bad price for two people with the DVC discount. I've got to remember the DVC discount when we go.

I think its in effect before 10am, unless they changed it. I sure hope not since Cynthia and I are going in May!

What a great view! I'm super excited to go on it sometime.

You will LOVE it. It really very cool!

Wow, how cool about your guide! To move down there to go to school to be a golf pro, and then to love your job at Character's in Flight. Awesome.

If I'm not mistaken I think they said they wanted to spend him to Vegas for a new balloon they are putting up there. He was definitely passionate about his job.

Typhoon Lagoon is a great choice. It's my favorite water park.

It's so, so pretty there. I love it too!

Oh no, that stinks about the chlorine! I'm sorry your skin got so irritated.

It was weird. I'm so glad that didn't happen to me in October. Ouch!

You will definitely crash into people in the wave pool. Good looking out not going in if you didn't want to collide with someone. :lmao:

Exactly. That's why I don't want to join. I'm a chicken. I don't mind crashing into people, but I am afraid of getting hurt. Such a baby I am!

Those were totally famous last words about not buying anymore DVC points.....

Yup! :rotfl:

Gaaaahhh, I want to stay there so bad! I'm just doubting we're going to get it immediately because we don't own a contract.

You might snag a ressie. It can happen. I am glad to have that 11 month window!

I would have totally wasted shiny man's time.

:rotfl2:

oh yes, I know exactly what you mean! Ex #1 was a med student, we were wined and dined...and wife #2 is/was a drug rep (not one who wined and dined us though, this one waited till he had his own practice lol) so yeah...know the type well!

Yes - I think you know EXACTLY the type I mean. :rolleyes1:rotfl:

I am totally in on the balloon! I'd love to do it in December but the wallet doesn't like the # of tickets is have to buy :) uno is muy better!

So May it is. You are going to love it. I can't wait to do it again. It's really cool!

You don't have a wrong UY just bad luck on the date they declared it for.

That's one way of looking at it. I actually like my use year, but I was totally bummed I had to wait to get my points. I wanted to book for this October but Denny didn't want to borrow.

Wow, a lot of things happened in this update!

I told you it was a long one!!!!

I'm too chicken to go in the Characters of Flight balloon, so I really enjoyed seeing your pictures. It's always fun spotting those park icons from afar. And the resorts still look beautiful from up high! :goodvibes

So you don't like heights? It really isn't scary at all. The view is just so cool and hiding behind a camera lens really helps. It really is very cool to see all the park icons in the distance. The view is pretty similar to the view from the roof of the WL. You can see all the icons from there as well.

Sorry that the water park irritated your skin. I have extremely sensitive skin, as well, and I know the resort pools can be too chlorinated and cause that burning feel, too. I guess Disney would rather ensure the water areas are as sanitized as possible than worrying about what it's doing to guests. :confused3

I am sure most people's skin does not get irritated with that amount of chlorine, but sometimes my skin just overreacts. I really didn't expect that, but I'm glad it didn't burn for long.

A spur of the moment DVC purchase......I can't imagine. It had to be unbelievably exciting to do something that spontaneous, but I can only imagine your nerves were a little frazzled when it finally sunk in what you'd just done. :rotfl2:

You summed it up perfectly. I did feel frazzled and out of sorts. I keep telling myself "You still can cancel it" and that gave me permission to let it sink in. It was all very surreal.

From the pictures and videos of the villas that I've seen, the rooms look absolutely stunning. Disney did a really good job with them, so I am sure you'll enjoy your stays when you go. Plus, as you said, that would make one great wedding gift in the future.

The room is stunning. I can't wait to stay there, but I would have no trouble giving away my precious points as a wedding present. I would love to see my kids enjoy something like that. What a fabulous place of a honeymoon.

Just back from our new joint home resort Mary Ellen, and let me just say, it's AMAZING!!!! Can't wait to show you the pictures. We were blown away. Mom and I actually liked it better than the main GF building, it's so private and gorgeous. Officially the smallest DVC resort.

Wow Pam. They is so great to hear. I'm so glad you both loved it. Please let me know the second you start your TR. I can't wait to see the lobby. It sounds amazing.

Very cool you did the Flights of Wonder. Great pictures, my favorite is the one with all the strings. I can't go back and read all the chit chat so hopefully I'm not repeating anything.

It was a great experience. You really need to try it. It's an amazing view.

We love TL! BB was the only one open this trip and we did get there for the afternoon. Sorry the water burned you, can't imagine how uncomfortable that was. Did you at least rinse off in the outside showers? Loved the pictures, felt like I was right there with you.

We visited BB this trip, too! I like TL better. I just think its a little prettier.

I wanted to make a run for the shower, but I decided to just see what would happen if I distracted myself by taking pictures. I was actually just trying to take my mind off the burn and, fortunately, it worked.

Love that Denny was onboard. I will warn you, the studio has very little storage because of the murphy bed. I lived out of the suitcase which I don't like to do. It made packing really easy though.

Boo. I like storage. Denny, on the other hand, can live out of a suitcase and leave his clothes all over the floor. I hate that. Oh Well, as long as the rome is bigger than the rooms at BLT. I am sure I will still love it, despite the storage issue.

Dinner at Mama's

Once we left here

We went here for a little siesta

It was our last night at the Polynesia Isles and we certainly needed a little pool time before we left the next day.

I was a little ambivalent about our plans for today. Part of me really wanted to go back to the Celebration Tavern, but it was our last night in Disney and it seemed wrong not to go to a park.

So off we went. Our second to last trip back into the bubble.

And we landed here.

Home of the hat

A peak at the tower. Don't worry, we'll be back!

We decided to head here

One of my nephews REALLY wanted to do this. I felt so bad when they had to cancel their trip because I had made up my mind that somehow I was going to get him to do this.

I can't remember what the standby time was, but I don't recall waiting very long

Let's get this tour on the road

And once again I was NOT the rebel spy. Bummer! But I still love the shirt!

Next stop

I was om a mission to find the key

And guess what? It was there!

I love these guys! I just wish they weren't bolted to their seats.

Bye Kermie. It's been real

Dinner tonight was at Mama Melrose. I was sort of ambivalent about this meal, but I did it for a couple reasons.

Reason #1 When we were planning to stay with my brother I had booked the Fantasmic dinner package and I was going to treat their family for asking us to stay with them. I obviously canceled that and we weren't able to get the F! package for just two. But I had in Mama's stuck in my head so I decided to keep it a dinner destination.

Reason #2. This is a nostalgic restaurant for me. It's the first Disney TS restaurant we ever ate at as a family. I remember sitting in one of the corner booths with my kids. The server gave us a crayon so we could each sign our names on the wall. That was a great trip and a great memory.

So, in an attempt to walk down memory lane I thought Mama Melrose would be fun and I'm glad I didn't cancel for the Celebration Tavern.

Cute place

So what did we have?

Mixed Greens Salad - with fresh tomatoes, cucmbers, artichoke hearts, shaved Sopressata, and red wine-oregeno vinaigrette $7.49

Mine

Whole-Wheat Fettuccini - with sauteed suzzhini, squash, olives, spinach, garlic and fresh Thyme finished with vegetable broth garnished with goat cheese and olive tapenade $15.99

Denny's

Chicken Campanelle - wood-grilled chicken over Campanelle pasta tossed with four-cheese sauce with broccoflower, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh spinach and sweet onions $18.99; with Shrimp $20.99

As I recall Denny's entree had quite a bit of flavor (and calories) while mine was just OK. It just didn't have a lot of flavor. Oh well. You win some. You lose some.

After dinner it was almost dark out

It was a beautiful evening

I am embarrassed to say that the Tune In Lounge is still on my bucket list

With out stomachs full from dinner where would be the only logical place to go that would aide in digestion?

How about here?

Heck, why not?

After looking at DaveinFallsChurch's pictures I almost don't want to post mine.

Thankfulling the line was short and there are not too many.

That was it. Not my usual 500 pictures per attraction. I'm quite proud.

Look here to check out Dave's pictures!

I leave you with the final picture. Our red neck ride photo.

And with that happy memory I will break here. I have to work this weekend so there won't be much DIS time for me. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Up Next& Closing out the evening at HS and a brand new day.

What a nice way to end your night.

I have never done Mama Melrose. I hear so many so-so reviews and well my dining card is usually filled up so I keep putting it on the back burner.

Great shots in ToT !!!! DHS has some pretty areas at night.

Great update, MEK. Glad you got some final pool time in. We haven't been to Mama Melrose since 2008 for our 25th anniversary. Mary and the girls and I are doing the Fantasmic package in June (can you believe the girls have never seen Fantasmic) and Mark and I are going to do it in September as he's been wanting to go back. I know it's not the best food, but it's better than a lot of the offerings at the Studios.

I always forget to look for that key; I'll have to put Mark on that duty next trip. I did like the new stuff they put in the waiting area before entering the theater.

Your pictures of TOT are great! I totally didn't get many at all when there last month. I love your redneck photo.

Sorry you have to work all weekend again, and hope you can enjoy part of it.

I want to be the rebel spy just to get the t-shirt. I mean, I could buy the shirt anyway but I don't want to wear a lie.
I love Muppetvision so much! I finally remembered to look for the key last trip.
I have still never eaten at Mama Melrose. It was on the list for this last trip but got ousted by Via Napoli. I'm not sorry, but I do want to get there some day. It looks delicious! Well, Denny's does for sure! Too bad yours was just ok.
Dear sweet baby J, I can't stomach ToT on the best of days let alone on a full tummy! Hahaha
You're too hard in yourself Mary Ellen, your photos are beautiful too! (Add to that we're Disers, we want pictures no matter what!)

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Love the pictures! The salad looked tasty, not so sure about the pasta. I'm not a fan of the cream sauces, we've never been to Mama Melrose's. It seems worth a try.

Great day at DHS! Star Tours, Muppets and ending with ToT is a pretty good day, although I've got to work in at least one ride on RnR or I don't feel like I had a complete day there! :confused3

I've heard so many mixed reviews of Mama Melrose I haven't ever had it on my list to try, although Denny's dish does look really good. :goodvibes Usually if I'm going to do Italian at Disney I typically do it in Epcot at Tutto or Via Napoli. :lovestruc

I love your pictures of ToT! All those different beautiful light fixtures! I need to look up more next time I'm there in Januaray. This is why ToT is my favorite attraction. I could go through that queue a hundred times and still find find new little details. :goodvibes And thank you for the shoutout!

We ate at Mama Melrose once a couple of years ago and thought it wasn't half bad. It may have also been because we had lowered our expectations a bit after reading other people's reviews. I did have the Chicken Campanelle and enjoyed it!

I was so behind, but finally got caught up. I have been so depressed lately and I have been burying myself in other things to not think about Disney. I just need to go away somewhere warm soon or I think I might burst.

It looks like such a fun trip and doing a few different things is always fun. I love Dave's pictures. I wonder how he gets such sharp, clear ones.

Fun update. Sorry the meal at Mama's wasn't better. I'm not a fan of theirs but how nice to remember your first family meal there :)

You must try the TuneIn Lounge and Dad's Electric Lemonade if you've never had it. It's among Dale and Caitlin's favorite Disney drinks :)

I was a little ambivalent about our plans for today. Part of me really wanted to go back to the Celebration Tavern, but it was our last night in Disney and it seemed wrong not to go to a park.

Makes sense to me.

And once again I was NOT the rebel spy. Bummer! But I still love the shirt!

But even if you were the spy, would you be able to tell us? :confused3

I was om a mission to find the key

Good work! :thumbsup2

I love these guys! I just wish they weren't bolted to their seats.

I'd love to hear their comments about the Enchanted Tiki Room. Or IASW. :rotfl:

Dinner tonight was at Mama Melrose. I was sort of ambivalent about this meal, but I did it for a couple reasons.

I remember eating there once and thinking, "Meh." Sounds like it's about the same.

With out stomachs full from dinner where would be the only logical place to go that would aide in digestion?

How about here?

Well, sure, that's one way to empty your stomach. :rotfl2:

First, I *might* have to conquer my fear of heights because those pictures from the balloon ride were AMAZING. Just spectacular. How fantastic!

My mouth was literally dropping seeing those VGF pictures; holy crap on a cracker. What a GORGEOUS place. :thumbsup2

I had a camera question I wanted to pose to you - what bag do you use to take your camera around with you to the parks? I have the padded bag that came with the camera (Canon Rebel DSLR) but it's bulky and not really conducive to carrying around. What do you do? I have a cross-body purse and I was thinking as long as I kept the lens cap on I could carry it in there. Do you think that'd work OK, or do I need to look into buying a padded bag that's easier to carry around? I'd of course have to be careful that it didn't bang into things while in the purse.

I love the walk down memory lane, what a neat memory! Sorry the food wasn't better, sadly sometimes the healthy pasta option can be awfully boring...darn vegetable broth anyway!

May.

Tune In Lounge

Must do!

I've not really been. I've been "in", bought a beer and took it right out. I don't think that counts. :rotfl:

Sorry your meal at Mama Melrose's was not as good as you had hoped. Denny's dish looks amazing!! Made me kind of hungry, actually...

:rotfl: ToT is probably not the best post-meal attraction, but who cares? IT'S FUN!! Your expression in the ride photo is pretty awesome too! :thumbsup2:lmao:
