I Told You Driving Was Bad For Your Health! *2/2* NEW TRIP REPORT LINK P102

Celebration and Raglan Road. Two places that I would really like to visit!

Celebration looks very pleasant! Sort of reminds me of Saratoga Springs Resort where it feels like you removed from the hustle and bustle.

I don't know why we keep NOT making it to Raglan Road. I swear, we have ADRs for the place every trip and every time we end up cancelling it. I think it's because we're just so exhausted at the end of a park day that making it over to DTD with the kids just sounded a bit too much. :lmao: One of these days.

I'm still here, MEK.

The DIS has been very slow people wise lately. It seems like a lot of people haven't been on (I know since I finished my TR and have gotten into my PTR a lot more, that readership is down; or they just don't want to read me anymore :rotfl:).

We drove to Celebration once and that was to fill up on gas and it was a total madhouse...the traffic was awful. I'd like to walk around there once (maybe during our September trip when we have a little more time). It looks like a nice area to visit and your pictures are gorgeous.

I hear you on ordering something that you shouldn't order at a particular restaurant (I've learned from that mistake).

Your sunset photos are spectacular.

We have said a dozen times at least that we are going to go check out Celebration. We rarely have a car, though. This past summer, when we did, I just knew we were finally going to get there...but John wanted to go to a MALL instead, so we ended up there. I am glad I got to see it through your pictures until the day finally does come that it works out for us to go. :thumbsup2

I know, I know. It's been over a month since I've done an update. That is a record. I hope I still have readers out there after my long hiatus. Tell me you're still out there. Please!

ZZZZzzzz...Huh? What'd you say?

On the other hand, we saw family, friends, and lots of DISers. We fully enjoyed F&W and we absolutely loved our little side trip to Saint Augustine. It's an awesome town. It was a pretty full vacation with not a lot of down time.

Glad you finally made it to St. Augustine!:thumbsup2

Mmmm..Krispy Kreme...

We were going someplace I have always wanted to visit.

Krispy Kreme?

Our destination? The Celebration Town Tavern.

I remember wandering the town with DW a few years ago. It is a cute town, and the walking trail is really nice. We thought it might be a nice place to retire, so we checked the real estate listings... :scared1:

And Denny must have decided that he needed some greens. Poor choice.

Agreed. Stick with the unhealthy stuff.:thumbsup2

Love that he made you try the tomatoes. Julie does that to me all the time--"Ugh, this is disgusting! Here, try it." :confused3:rotfl:

Beautiful!

The balloon was up tonight and the line was rather long. I was a tad envious of the people enjoying the beautiful sunset up in the balloon.

One of these days...I will enjoy that balloon trip.

We ventured out to Celebration last month too, and it is SUCH a pretty little town! You got a lot more photos than I did to showcase that. :thumbsup2 I definitely wouldn't mind living there one day!

We never made it to DTD and from what I have been reading, the parking situation is even more awful now that they are doing all the construction. So I wasn't too disappointed to miss out on that headache. It looks like the entertainment at Raglan Road was wonderful even if some of the food wasn't up to par.

Beautiful sunset photo!

Still here, but I have been MIA too!

What a nice little tour of Celebration. It looks like a cute little town.

And wet! Too bad it wasn't a better day to explore.

Inexpensive beer! I'm in. How was it?

We have not been to Raglan Road. No interest from my traveling companions who still insist on T-Rex when we are in DTD. Someday...

What a gorgeous sunset!!! WOW! Great pictures.

:goodvibes

Yay! Mary Ellen's back on the Dis! I thoroughly enjoyed the latest update! It's been a while since we've driven through Kissimmee and past Celebration. I always wanted to go over to Celebration but we never have. Looking at your pictures makes me want to put it on our "to do" list.

Great update!

Thanks Karin!

You won't believe it, but we have yet to make it to Celebration. :scared1: Such a beautiful little town. Love the hotel and restaurant you went to - I guess it will be on our list for 2015! :thumbsup2

It really is a cute little town. Isn't hard to believe that you have what you consider a lengthy vacation and you STILL can't do all the things you want to do?

I hope you do get to Celebration! It's a cool place to visit and I am definitely going back there to eat. :thumbsup2

Your review of RR was the second one I read lately - guess we really need to give it another try. :rolleyes1

It's a fun restaurant. That was my second visit. I'm bummed Denny didn't like his meal, but I enjoyed mine and the entertainment was fun!

The sunset is beautiful. Great photos!

Thank you! We really lucked into that cool sunset.

You really have to go up in the balloon if you can. It is beautiful. We really have loved the few times we did it. (Ever so often the weather will not cooperate! :sad2:)

Oh, we DID go up in the balloon. We came back and did it early in the morning. Loved it! It was really cool!

Oh, and thank you for taking a picture of our favourite Krispy Kreme shop! We will be back there first thing after we arrive in February. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: I was thinking about you when I took that picture AND when I posted it!!!!!

Still here! :wave2: I don't think you have to worry about everyone giving up on you. There's a lot of people behind around here, and I certainly fall into that category, so no worries.

It seems like getting behind is becoming a regular epidemic. Probably because it IS pretty time consuming. Sometimes I almost don't want to sign on because I know I really need about an hour every night to catch up.

Celebration looks like a nice little town. You got some good pictures, in spite of the rain.

It is an adorable town. And thank you! I really need to get back there on a sunny day and take some more pictures!

I love Raglan Road......have had some great times and memorable experiences there! :woohoo: I agree, Denny's salad didn't look too good. I've never tried the mussels, but they do look pretty good! There are definitely some really good dishes on the menu. ::yes::

Yum - the mussels were really good. I definitely recommend trying them. That is, if you like mussels. It's a fun restaurant and I think we really should have tried more traditional irish dishes. Oh well, next time!

Oh, if we are ever going to be there at the same time I'm sure we will both know so we can run into each other at some point! With all the trips, sometimes I wonder if we've ever just missed each other and don't even realize it. :scratchin

That could definitely happen. Well especially since I have no idea when your trips are. I know one thing - I really enjoy meeting DISers. It's really a lot of fun!

Those sunset pictures are beautiful! :)

Thank you! It was such a gorgeous evening and such an unexpected surprise to go outside and see that.

If you've never done the balloon ride, and it's you kind of thing, you should do it! It's definitely a Disney "bucket list" item. I'm afraid of heights so I'm not about to do it but Dale and Caitlin did it several years ago and really enjoyed it.

We did do it, but during the day time. It was really awesome. I'm so glad we did it. It would be cool during the sunset but I was not about to wait in that line. Instead we had a private tour. ;)

Thanks for the update :)

You're welcome!

LOVE your sunset pictures.

Thank you! I just totally lucked out walking outside into that incredible sunset. So unexpected.

Celebration looks super-cute. A place I've always wanted to visit, too. Someday!

Celebration IS super cute. In some ways a little "too" cute, if you know what I mean. But that's not going to stop me from visiting. I really enjoyed our brief stop and I am definitely going back to the Celebration Tavern for dinner.

I've never been to Raglan Road, either. I can't say your food descriptions made me feel like it's a must-do, though it does look like a fun spot.

We did not pick the traditional dishes off the menu. They have some cool dishes, like a really interesting shepherd's pie. Next time we'll have to try something different. I actually liked mine. Denny just had bad picks.

Glad you're back, hope things are a little less crazy for you lately!

Thanks Nory. Things at work should be slowly down for me starting in January, meaning I should no longer have to work over time. So excited about that!

I know, I know. It's been over a month since I've done an update. That is a record. I hope I still have readers out there after my long hiatus. Tell me you're still out there. Please!
MEK... MEK... hmmm... Seems vaguely familiar. :confused3

5:30. Time for a cocktail.
:thumbsup2

Sheree (MnDisneygirl) told me about this place. What I remember most? They have cheap beer. Hey, that's important. I have my priorities people!
:rotfl::rotfl2::lmao: You have to know what's important.

I bet its really pretty out here when its NOT raining.
I guess you'll just have to go back to find out sometime.

He started complaining almost immediately that it was summer and the tomatoes were not ripe. He even insisted I take one and try it. He was right. It sort of crunched in my mouth.
So... I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Denny would have been on board with staying in Celebration instead of trying Raglan Road? :confused3 :lmao:

Celebration is still on my bucket list as is the balloon. :rolleyes1

Such a cute town and it looks like you had a nice little visit.

Sorry your Raglan Road meal was not perfect. I am glad you liked you meal, Denny was less than thrilled with his.

Like Rosie said we had a blast this last trip.

If you are thinking Raglan Road you are right on!. But, holy crap, the parking lot at DTD was PACKED! I almost regretted leaving Celebration right then and there. Denny dropped me off to go look for a parking space while I hung out in the crowded gift shop.

I am seriously considering RR for my next trip. It has been years since I have been there. The less than ripe tomatoes don't make me terribly excited... but then I guess the real reason I would be headed there is for the bread pudding.

It was a gorgeous evening and I ended up taking this picture on my phone and posting it on Facebook, so you know there was no editing involved.

Beautiful evening! I agree!!

I would love to return here in the nice weather. It's an adorable little town and I was hoping to eat at the Celebration Tavern during this past trip, but that's another thing that just didn't happen. I am still holding out hope though!

What a nice little town! LOVE the pictures!

I believe alcoholic beverages must always maintain a high priority on trips :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Your beer looks delicious and refreshing.

I told DH we're living in Celebration when we retire. That or the Disney community....:rotfl: Pfft, yeah right! The amount of those homes are insane! But Celebration is more reasonable I think.

And OMGOSH I'm right there with you on the parking at DTD. It was nuts when we went too!

Sorry about Denny's food. Too bad there were no women dancers around to make up for that dish. However, you had a nice view of some dancers ;):thumbsup2 The burger looks delish!

Can't wait to hear about the MK.

Hope you and your family have a very Happy Thanksgiving!:goodvibes

I don't know where to start- hope I remember everything I want to say!

Glad you are back- the gulf coast is gorgeous, you will love it , and I am very envious of the manatee kayaking! Sounds amazing!

How cool that you made it to Celebration- I have always wanted to go but have not yet. That one photo reminded me of SSR- sorry I cant post the one I mean, Im on my ipad. You have made me determined to get there someday!

Your sunset photos were beautiful- love the silhouettes in the one with ur camera.

And I can't believe you have never eaten in the castle! LOL, I thought I was the only one! Haha, I guess I will be after May-

Ok- I think that's it- my tablecloth is dry, I'm going to set my table for tomorrow. Have a happy Thanksgiving, and enjoy having the boys home!

Gorgeous sunset!!!!!

How nice to see Celebration. I hope that someday we can make our way there too...but i am surprised such an innocent town has more than one bar!!!!!! :rotfl:

Congrats on a new Florida trip! When in May is your girls trip?

Thanks. I am excited for a winter getaway, that's for sure! :thumbsup2

Girl's trip is May 12th - May 18th. I may arrive a night earlier. Not sure yet. Do we overlap?

Both Celebration and that sunset looked beautiful!

Celebration is such a cool little town and I WILL get back there when its not raining.

I totally lucked out on the sunset. That was a bonus.

Have you done it? I was thinking you hadn't. I would like to that's for sure. It is a maybe for us for the NYE trip but it could easily not happen as well.

We did (spoiler alert). You will see pictures soon enough. It was awesome. I loved it and would totally do it again. The view was amazing. If you don't get to do it during your NYE trip we should do it in May.

Really neat balloon shots, looking forward to seeing more!

And I have more! Coming up in the Next update!

Love the Celebration pics and that tavern looks fabulous, I'd have been tempted to stay too!

I wish I had taken more pictures of the inside. There was actually a semi outdoor seating area (open air but covered) and an inside area. It was actually getting filled up as we were sitting at the bar. So cute. Maybe Denny and I will stop there in Feb. I definitely need to get back there.

Hi Mary Ellen! So happy to see an update! :)

It's about time, right? I am turning into such a slacker. :rotfl2: I hope to get another one done this weekend. ::yes::

Celebration looks so adorable, I'd like to see it for myself some day! Too bad about the rain. I bet the place would be so beautiful in the sunshine.

OMG - can you just imagine how lovely that waterfront area would be in the sunshine? I really am looking forward to going back. It's too cute of a place not to revisit.

I guessed Raglan Rd! I keep saying that I have to get back there and it just never makes the list. Next time! Too bad about Denny's tomatoes, glad he spoke up.

Raglan Road is a fun restaurant. I'm glad we went there. I enjoyed sitting in the main road and seeing all the action. It was lots of fun.

What a sunset!! The pics with the balloon are amazing! Great scene!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Thanks. I totally lucked into that sunset. It's so great when its totally unexpected. Love that!

When we stayed at SSR, we could really see the balloon and it looks like a blast. :thumbsup2

I know - when we stayed there we always saw the balloon up and it looked SO cool. Spoiler alert - we did go up in the balloon and I was be posting pictures of that adventure.

[CENTERGreat update. Celebration looks like a cute little town, is it ran/owned/run by Disney? The sign looks very Disney.

Celebration is adorable. I think it used to be Disney affiliated. I have to look at the history, but I'm pretty sure Disney purchased the land and started it as a planned community. But now I'm not sure what the ties are.

[CENTERSorry RR wasn't great. We eat bad when we're there, gravy for all my friends. And Guinness, lots of Guinness. I had sangria cider that was pretty good too. We sat at the bar and loved it.

I enjoyed my meal, but Denny did not pick well. He should have had the shepherds pie. I think he would of loved that. I did not educate him well enough. I think he may have had a guinness which probably helped. ::yes:: Oh - sitting at the bar sounds fun. I'll have to try that. The bar area is adorable.

[CENTERBeautiful sunset photos.

Thank you! It was a spectacular evening.

Mary Ellen when it comes to Raglan Road there are sooo many great dishes , the It;s not bleedin' chowder , fish and chips , Kevins Ham, and many more , check out my Wher's my Suitcase thread for lots of pix and then of course they have the most delish dessrte EVAAH!!

Hey Rosie - I don't think I got that far in your TR yet. I have to check it out. I've heard about the chowder and I know that's supposed to be pretty amazing. I'm sure the Fish n chips are too. I enjoyed my meal, but Denny could have picked a little better.

Great update! Celebration looks so neat....I need to drive over there some of these days. I love Ragland Road but haven't been there in ages. Putting it on the short list for my next trip.

Jill in CO

Hey Jill - How was your trip? I hope you had a fantastic time!

Celebration is an adorable little town. I loved it.

Raglan Road is always a fun experience and I enjoyed my dinner there. However, I should have steered Denny to some better menu items.

I'm still here!!!!!!! :wave2:

Hey Ashley! I hope all is well with you! Glad you're still here!!!!!

I have added a PTR to the end of my TR.

Your upcoming trip does should like a ton of fun. You know I'll be following along.

Celebration looks like it would be an awesome place to visit. It looks like it had a lot of nice things to see.

It's such a cute little town and I hope to head back for a revisit soon. I wanted to go there in October but it just never worked out.

Glad you are going to take a mid winter break. That is the same reason we go to Disney the last few days of January and the first week of February!

That sounds like an awesome time to visit. We are heading down right at the end of February into March. I am really looking forward to it, even though its just a quick getaway. I think it will really help with the transition from winter to spring. Come on Spring! :worship:

I've always wondered what Celebration was like. It was somewhere I wanted to move to, but it think the HOA is pretty strict.

I am sure it is SUPER strict. I don't think I could live there (as cute as it is), but its such a neat place to visit. I am looking forward to returning when its NOT raining!

Never have eaten at RR, but it looks interesting. Can't say I would like the mussels, not my thing at all.

It's a neat restaurant. I definitely recommend checking it out. That was my second visit. The first time we sat outside of the main room, so I'm glad we got to sit in the main room where all the action is.

I love mussels, so totally up my alley!

Celebration is too cute! The pictures made me think of OKW.

It really is too cute and the main street does look a bit like OKW. It's very colorful and festive. Very well planned. Almost bordering on "too cute" if you know what I mean. ;)

Congrats on the February trip :cool1:

Thanks. I am totally looking forward to a mini winter break. :thumbsup2

Welcome back! You have done a better job getting caught up than have I! :) I'm looking forward to hearing about your latest adventures and Dismeets. It IS hard to believe that you didn't step foot in DHS. Sounds like alternate plans were good though.

Thanks! Sorry its taken me so long to get back in the swing of things.

October is really a great time for DIS meets. They are really such a highlight of my trip. I can't wait to write about them (when I finally finish this TR :bite lip:)

I still can't believe I didn't make it in HS. That is just SO wrong. I will be making up for it as soon as I can.

Celebration looks like a great place to visit. Celebration Inn, with the red stripped awning reminds me of YC for some reason.

It's an adorable little town and the awning is quite reminiscent of the YC, but on a much smaller scale. It does look like a cute place to stay right on the water.

We've only been to RR once and I'm a big fan of the live entertainment and the dessert. I need to go back and have a different entrée.

The entertainment is awesome.

I keep hearing about the desserts. Maybe I should go back just for dessert since I am always so full from dinner to try one. I think I'll sit at the bar, have a drink, and check out the dessert menu!

Awesome sunset photos at DTD!

Thanks.

We totally lucked into that fabulous sunset!

Just marking my spot so I know where I got up to reading:rotfl2:

You go Rosie! Aren't you getting ready to head to the world again? I am SO jealous!

Celebration and Raglan Road. Two places that I would really like to visit!

The best thing about Disney is there is always something new to do. That's why its so fun to plan trips. Always something to add to the list!

Celebration looks very pleasant! Sort of reminds me of Saratoga Springs Resort where it feels like you removed from the hustle and bustle.

Celebration is super cute. It doesn't seem like it should be in Florida. I know they do segway tours there and I am seriously considering one in the future so I can go back and see it properly. I'm sure there's a lot more to it than what I have already seen.

We were doing that exact same thing for awhile with R&C. Trip after trip we kept canceling our ADR. But finally we went on this trip and it was great.

I hear ya about being exhausted after a park day, especially with kids. When my kids were younger we were just ready to crash by the time we headed back to the room. We would grab dinner and then totally chill.

I'm still here, MEK.

YAY! :cool1:

The DIS has been very slow people wise lately. It seems like a lot of people haven't been on (I know since I finished my TR and have gotten into my PTR a lot more, that readership is down; or they just don't want to read me anymore :rotfl:).

I don't think its because people don't want to read you. I think you are right - readership is down. A lot of the "original" DISers are only on Facebook now because its so much easier than writing a TR. I have to tell you - I really had to psych myself up to pick up this TR. It's a lot of work and conversing with people on Facebook is so much easier. But I am going to stay dedicated to the DIS and I'm glad you are too! ::yes::

We drove to Celebration once and that was to fill up on gas and it was a total madhouse...the traffic was awful. I'd like to walk around there once (maybe during our September trip when we have a little more time). It looks like a nice area to visit and your pictures are gorgeous.

We tried to drive through there once on our way back to the airport and it was insane as well. This time I feel like we arrived at a good time (in the rain) so it was easy to find a place to park. I do intend to go back and revisit when the weather is nicer.

I hear you on ordering something that you shouldn't order at a particular restaurant (I've learned from that mistake).

That was Denny's mistake and I just didn't pay enough attention to him. May have had something to do with the two beers I consumed prior to arriving. :rolleyes1

Your sunset photos are spectacular.

Thank you! It's always so great to walk outside to an unexpected sunset.

:thumbsup2

Oh - boo to the mail! I mean, I get it because there are some good outlet stores there. But - well, Celebration is much cooler.

Anyway - I hope you did get a chance to visit someday. It really is a cute little town and I hope to get back there and actually eat at the Celebration Tavern. It's too cute not to.

Mary Ellen! Mary Ellen! Looks like I'm finally overlapping with you in May. I'll be there 17-19 post cruise with mom at BCV. Where are you staying? We must at least get in a quick hello if nothing else :)
