I thought you could always modify a reservation before 45 days, but I have been told otherwise???...

As I often do, I booked a free dining package, and the cm told me to book the max days I would want, and modify later, as it is harder to add days than take them away....My daughter just started college, and her school calendar makes it so we need to shave a couple of days, but still would be coming in on valid dates of the promo. I was told that we would lose the promotion if we made any changes to the reservation other than who is going. Is this correct?

...In the past I have taken off or added days: why is this now a problem? Please give me your expert advice in how to proceed. I am about 100 days out.

Thank you dis community!:flower3:

You used to be able to do this no problem, lately it's been harder to do. I tried multiple times to add a day to my bounce back last month and even though there was availability, I couldn't do it because there wasn't availability or the offer was no longer good etc. Good luck....id def. keep trying and go through supervisor levels as I don't think there's anything a regular CM can do. I know it's frustrating.

Call again. Make the same request. If denied, ask if you can speak with guest relations. WDW is making it more difficult to add or subtract days but they CAN do it if they choose too. Guest services would be the ones who have the authority to over-ride the system. Worth a shot.

This, but there is no guarantee.

I really need to add a day to my current reservation, which is a Free Dining package, would guest relations be able to help me?

The CM you spoke with gave you bad information. They can only make changes IF there is current availability for that change, with the promo, in the system. They can't just add or subtract days. As PP's have said, you will have to ask for a supervisor to get involved. There is no guarantee they will be able to make this change for you as Disney reserves the right to restrict changes on all reservations. These restrictions were in the terms and conditions when you booked the package. It's too bad the CM wasn't aware of this!

From the WDW package terms and conditions - "Changes to reservation, including but not limited to change in travel dates, length of stay or hotel accommodations, are subject to availability at the time the change is requested and guest is responsible for paying any increase in price resulting from the change."

They have really gotten more strict with adding/subtracting days for some unknown reason (to me). They now say you have to cancel the reservation booked and make a new one - not guaranteeing even being able to get it. Doesn't make any sense to me.

But, from our experience we were able to leave a couple days early and get a refund!! :confused3

Yeah guest services will have to do it. I had this happen when I was a TA- clients booked and something came up and they would only be able to go 4 nights instead of 5. They didn't even have a promo- the CM said it couldn't be done because the hotel was now sold out for all of their dates. I said "well they can't physically be there so can we see if guest services can modify it?" - which they did and it was no problem.

We are planning to try to take one day off of a free dining package; it's so tough to make plans 6 months ahead when deals are offered and then line up decent airfare with it! My mom owns a travel agency and she has been told by various Disney agents that she will have to submit the request in writing and see if they are willing/able to remove one day. Otherwise, I guess we pay for a night that we're not really there after leaving, rather than lose the free dining. So I feel your pain.

This started happening routinely last year and there were several posts from upset disers who'd been 'adjusting' their vacations for years (usually reserving more days than they knew they'd need and trying to downsize right before final payment) and weren't allowed to do so.
When guests shave a day or two off at the last minute Disney is stuck with 'orphan' nights which are harder to rent. Disney is more likely to get a new booking for a multi night stay rather than a solo night here or there. Think of places which require a 2 or 3 night stay over popular weekends, it's to maximize occupancy (and profit) and Disney's computer models probably showed a lot of lost revenue from late partial cancelations, so they decided to correct that.

Thank you so much for your input!...It took 90mins on hold, but I got it done!

Thank you all so much!:thanks:

Yep.
