Just back from 6 days at the World. Me, DH and DD11. Good and bad. Bad-weather was HOT, then it poured two days. Crowds were tough to deal with on Monday 7/4 (expected) and Tuesday 7/5. There were about 3000 tour groups from Brasil, all young people. They were fun, spirited kids, well mannered, but boy they were EVERYWHERE!! We got to do everything we wanted to with minimal waits by taking advantage of EMH and going during parades/fireworks.
We stayed at Coronado Springs, our favorite resort. Lots of kids there too-a lacrosse tournament and more kids from Brasil, but we stayed at the quiet pool in the Ranchos (we were in 7A). Room was wonderful, the queen beds are nice. The sliding doors for the vanity area were a plus-like having another room!! Staff was excellent and our Mousekeeper did an awesome job!!
Surprisingly we had the best time at AK. Which is usually not the case for us. But we hit the headliners early (Safari, Kali, Everest) and found the best souvenirs. We only spent one evening at DHS, and were disappointed that even though they were open late, a lot of things closed early. Never did make it on TSM, 85 minute wait was the shortest we saw.
We did spend a lot of time at Epcot, which is our favorite park. Actually saw the queue for Living with the Land, a first. Usually we just walk right on, but with the crowd we waited about 10 minutes. Not a problem though. We saw the concert by the group Little Queen, a Heart tribute group. Not bad, but I wish we had caught the Bon Jovi group instead.
MK was good, again hit the headliners early in the day (the 3 mountains). I had not been on Space Mountain since its refurb, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. DD and I rode BTMR next, and it seemed like a disappointment after Space Mountain. But still a good time.
We went to DTD on Weds 7/6, once the rain let up a bit. The World of Disney was super crowded, so we left shortly after getting there. We ate at WPE, a great value with the dining plan.
All in all it was a good trip, even though we had a hard time with the heat. We have never gone during the summer, and I don't see us doing it again. Our next trip is for Marathon weekend in 2013.
Any questions, I'll try to answer them!
