I usually do all of our laundry on Thursday, with a few loads throughout the week to keep the baskets from overflowing. My washing machine has been acting a bit odd for a while now, and it started to get really strange with the first load on Thursday (it didn't stop at the end of the cycle--it just started the next one instead). I was really busy and put the laundry off until I had more time.
I finally got around to it on Friday evening and found out that the washing machine is broken. It won't fill with water, and it won't spin. It just agitates. It's about 7 years old and has been giving us problems for about a year now, so DH and I decided to go to Sears on Saturday to order a new front loader.
We arranged for Monday delivery. Well, if you've watched the news, you probably know that we're completely iced in right now. I'm not talking about snow. I'm talking about a thick, solid sheet of ice. Obviously, the machine didn't come yesterday. It may not come today. We're not supposed to get above freezing until afternoon. If they do come, I have to find a way to get ice of the sidewalk for the delivery men. (Can anyone send a snow shovel down to South Carolina, fast?
)
I think Jacob and I both wore our last clean, warm outfits yesterday. We still have some short sleaved shirts clean, but that's useless right now. I can't even get to the laudromat. Our driveway is on a hill, and I don't really expect that part of the house to melt until tomorrow.
I'm very grateful that we had food in the house and that our power didn't go out. But a pair of clean underwear would be really nice right now.
