So my wife and I have planned a trip to Disneyland for the 18 - 20 of May. I know just before the 60th, we actually made the plans before Disney released the date. We take it as a sigh of relief, I'd rather have a little less crowd plus most all the refurbs will be completed.

Any who, this was meant to be a fairly reasonable trip expense wise since we are fairly certain we'll be back for the holidays. We are driving, we are staying at PVI, and not doing anything too crazy. Then a week went by and we decided to add a character breakfast and dinner at the Blue Bayou. We said ok that's all we are adding....well I just got off the phone with a CM and we are staying a night at the GCH, all they had was Downtown Disney view so what the hay. Our stay will not include a day at the park (although we might take advantage of the early morning on our check in day and use the next day as the relaxing day) so we are considering it relaxing Mommy and Daddy day. I just had to express my excitement and total lack of self control. For anyone that has stayed at the GCH, any tips on what do to besides the pool? Can you take advantage of the early morning hour on checkin day and checkout day?

You can use EMH on both check in and check out day, you just have to check in first. We've checked in at 6 a.m before to make sure we could take advantage. But we didn't do much at the actual hotel when we stayed there, mostly took advantage of how close it was to the parks.

When you check in you will get a weekly guide that shows activities available at the hotel. Depending on what day of the week you are staying, there may be something going on. Some activities include pool parties for little ones, movies on the lawn, power walks through DCA before it opens, free tours about the hotel, a small scavenger hunt, washcloth creations, drawing lessons, etc. There is lots to do, you won't have trouble filling up your time.
