I think my hamster is dying

Awww, I'm sorry your hammie is sick. Those little guys sure can grow on you. My DD17 raised gerbils for 12yrs. We buried the last one in the fall--she has a whole gerbil graveyard out back and she remembers every one of them.

It sounds like his little life is winding down. Not much you can do to help him. It doesn't sound like he's in pain, just old. Maybe you can wrap him in a napkin and stick him inside your shirt to keep warm. At any rate, I feel your distress. We've been through it several times and its always upsetting, even when you know its coming.

We had four hammie losses this year, one was just last week. Each one died in dd's (12) arms and she still cries over them. It's just so sad. She's taking a little break.

Keep him comfortable, offer water or thin shaving of a favorite fruit or vegetable. We too have a hamster graveyard in our backyard.

Moe has died, 630pm tonnight. His hammy buddy seemed so confused at playtime that his "buddy" wasnt there. at least hes got a good happy life up in heven

I am so sorry. My DS and DD just both got hamsters. They have just had a ball with them. I didn't know that their life expectancy was so low.
Losing a pet is very difficult. I hope that you feel blessed to have had him that long and help him to pass peacefully.

I'm so sorry to hear this. I share your love of the little guys. I had several growing up and my children have one now. He's the sweetest little guy, we will ALL be very sad when the time comes for our little Stuart. My heart goes out to you.

So sorry to hear about your hammy. Ours was named Dale but we called him Hammy all the time. I didn't know they lived such short lives - ours was only 2 & 1/2 - and he passed when we were in Disney last year. I felt so bad for the girl who was taking care of him.

Just know he's up in hammy heaven having the time of his life!
