We are headed for the ER as soon as DH gets here from work. She was up in her room and I heard a crash and she came downstairs and it was bleeding and her whole nose is purple. I put ice on it right away. But we figure better safe then sorry.... wish us luck, mostly because i'm sure we'll be sitting in an emergency room all night.

Forget Dad! He can meet you at the ER!! :)

I agree! Why are you waiting on your husband to get home? :confused3

Not everyone has two cars or the desire to take all their children to the ER. Or perhaps her DH works close by and waiting was adding an additional 10 minutes and then she'd have an extra set of hands.

I knew when I saw this posted it would end up with someone jumping on her for it.

To the OP, I hope your DD is ok and you had a quick and easy trip to the ER!

I hope that she is okay. do not get mad at her she is not taking her dd right now her dh needs to know what is up

2 words "frozen peas". they make the best ice pack because they mold to your face as they melt so you can lean back without the ice pack falling off.

ds broke my nose twice when he was a toddler.

Hey, when you get to the ER, specifically request that she be seen by a plastic surgeon.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!

You don't want her nose set by a resident; no offense to residents, but the best job will be done by the guy who does noses all day, every day.

I second the frozen peas. Bless her heart, I'm hoping its not broken.

When DS broke his nose they couldn't do anything until the swelling went down a week later, then he had surgery.

I hope she is OK.

They didn't set my daughters nose in the ER, they sent her to a specialist. He actually had her go to the hospital and put her under to straighten it because of how the break was, he said he would be too painful for her to set it without being put out.

We are home. LoL, I am so sorry to have offended people by waiting literally 5 minutes for my husband to get home from work. I called him at 6:12 and he was home by 6:20 and we were out the door by 6:30. Gasp, we even spent 10 minutes dropping the other kids off at my grandmas!!! DCF should be knocking at my door any minute now huh? LoL, sorry for being catty, I'm irritated by our joke of an ER visit.

We didn't have to wait long to get in but then sat there awhile to see a doctor who told us in kids that age, they don't do anything for broken noses. She confirmed that it was more then likely broken but they don't do xrays for broken noses, even in adults. They said when the swelling goes down, then we go see a plastic surgeon. Until then, just ice it and give her motrin.

I'm glad we have insurance so we only pay a $50 co pay for this joke of an ER visit... lol. I'm just glad everything is ok, she just looks pretty pitiful but not hurting but that could change in the morning. I'm posting before & after pics of her.. she thought it was hilarious.

Thanks for the nice words and all...

Before Julia, isn't she cute?

I have to say I'm pretty surprised by your ER visit? They don't take X Rays of broken noses? That just seems SO wrong... at the very least they should take an X Ray! You're right, what a visit :confused3 Hugs to your DD hope she is doing well tomorrow... :grouphug:

you know, when my kids were hurt I wanted to see a doctor because even if they don't do any treatment, doctors have a way of reassuring a nervous mom that everything is going to be OK.

My son broke his nose when he was 3 while at daycare. He had fallen off a Little Tykes slide face first. Anyhow, our doctor did an xray- but it didn't need to be set. It healed on it's own and you'd never know now.
