I think I'm going to like MYW...

I was just at the Disney website looking at these new ticket prices (for those of you still confused by MYW, I highly recommend the Disney homepage because it breaks it down into very easy to understand terms... there are even videos! )

But anyway, I was looking specifically at tickets WITHOUT the no expiration option, and you can go from a 4 day hopper to a 7 day hopper for only $3 more!!! That's insane! But it's great, because normally we would only buy a 4 day hopper for our 6 day trip... now for 2 extra bucks, I can go to the parks on travel days too!

I've noticed that the price intervals only get substantially greater when you add the no expiration option, but frankly, I don't see why anyone would do that anymore now that you can customize exactly the number of days you want.

I agree. Park hopping, especially in offpeak times is not a must and if you go for a week and buy the 7day no frills ticket, it becomes quite reasonable (for Disney :cool1: )

jellydisney,

I like the new ticket options too. Interestingly..... I do find a 10-day, no expiration ticket inviting!

If we normally spend 5 days in the parks (which we do) and we normally go every year (which we do), then a 10 day MYW ticket with park hopping and no expiration will save us money over 2 years compared to a 7-day MYW ticket with park hopping and no expiration bought each year.

We usually go for 7 days and spend 5 at WDW, a day at Universal and a day resort hopping and Downtown Disney. I would rather choose to continue this touring pattern with the 10-day no expire ticket that I can use over 2 years.

As an example (over two years)

2004 - 7 day MYW w/ park hopping, expires = $237.50
2005 - 7 day MYW w/ park hopping, expires = $237.50

Total for 2 years = $475

2004 - 10 day MYW w/ park hopping, no expiration = $353.58 (use five days)
2005 - 10 day MYW w/ park hopping, no expiration = $0 (using 5 days from previous year)

Total for 2 years = $353.58

Savings per ticket over two years = $121.42

Just works out good for us!

We are DVC and would save 10% on the UPH.. and with the MYW tickets we are saving hundreds WITHOUT any discount. I really like how they reward longer stays. I just wish they had tickets for 8 and 9 nights as well.

I also don't understand the package deals only going up to 7 ngihts. That is nuts for those people who want/need the longer package deals.

This is exactly how I feel. We are doing the same thing. The only difference being that my original intention was to buy APs for the 3 of us on the next trip for our two trips this year (5 days in the park on each trip). I'm getting the 10 day with no expiration-but no hopping-and, just for giggles, am adding the Plus option. I'll buy from a ticket broker and the total cost (including the 5 plusses) is still $74 per ticket less than my original plan of buying the APs. :cool1: :hyper:

I love them. Wish I did not already purchase airline tickets, I would stay a few days longer (already going for 7 nights) if I didn't already have them.

I think I am going to love the MYW tickets. I figure I will save about $300 for our May trip!

Because it's cheaper to buy more days. AND, it's cuz of folks like us who can only visit WDW a day or two each year. For us, the price of 5 day ph was about the same price as MYW 7 day + no exp. option. About same cost, 2 more days.
