I was coming home from the grocery store along the winding, back road along the river. It has several spots that fisherman use to pull off during fishing season. I don't travel it at night because it is a popular place for teens to test their driving skills (or lack of intelligence!)

A car was pulled over in one of the side spots and I noticed that the car in front of me quickly pulled in beside it, the driver jumped out and handed the other driver an envelope as I passed them. They turned to look at me as I went by. Both were younger adults or older teens. Within seconds, they shot out onto the road and one of them passed me on a particularly bad stretch of road with oncoming traffic. I truly thought that I would be hit and end up in the river! The river was on my side of the road and there are no guard rails, just trees. He just barely made it around me and left me in his dust. I was going the speed limit of 50 and he must have been going 80 or more. The other one did not pass me but proceeded on after I made the turn to my house.

I don't have any really good details for the police (although they appreciate all info). Just a rough idea of vehicle color; no plate numbers or vehicle types. Could have been innocent but, since I came sooooo close to ending up in the river, it looked like they were trying to escape something.

Even though I know that bad things are all over, I just do not expect to see it in my neighborhood.

..........or maybe I'm jumping to the wrong conclusion.......

At least I didn't have to talk to OnStar about getting out of a submerged vehicle!

I don't think I would be calling the police after one of them just saw me pulling into my driveway.

I was thinking the same thing as aahmom. I would never have pulled into my driveway after that. I would have kept going so they would not see where I lived.

On second thought maybe you should call since you did pull into your drive and they could potentially come back if they think you really saw something.:(

Good luck and stay safe.

I understand your point but it was a side road that leads to many houses. He did not follow me.

That's what I was thinking, too. And if you do call the police, make sure they know that one of the guys saw you pull in to your driveway.

I wouldn't bother calling the police without having any firm or extremely specific evidence (plate numbers, specific details)

Uhhhhh.. . while I certainly understand and sympathize you being upset and freaked out about almost ran off the raod Claudia, I do feel like I have to say this. . .

If it was some sort of drug deal. . well, alomost 40% of all Amercians have tried illegal drugs in one form or another, and if that was what was going on, I'm pretty sure all they wanted to do was get home and get high, and I seriously doubt any kind of drug deal was heavy enough to worry about who might have witnessed it. . .

But on the other hand. . . an exchange of an envelope doesn't sound like any drug deal I've ever heard of- sounds more like a payoff to a politician or something.

If you had some firm info like a licence plate or something, then I'd report it; but I sure don't see from what you said why you'd think it was a drug deal.. . and unless you see the same vehicles around your neighborhood again, I'd let it go nd not worry about it. . .

Glad to hear you weren't injured though. . whatever was going on, that would have scared anyone!!! :(

Could have even been test answers to a college exam!! ;)

I get your point WillyJ. Thanks!

That a month ago and I have not seen anything since. If it was some type of a deal, I agree that they were probably wanting to use it instead of tracking me down. Also, they were not very smart anyway!

Just another panic post from Claudia1!
