I think I gained 5 pounds at the Food & Wine Festival - An Oct 2012 TR **NEW 3/18**

enjoyed the update...i know what you mean about southwest and the seating.
i was 24 hours out and was in B20 area...luckily i had the little ones so we were bumped up to the before B boarding.:thumbsup2

need to get married and have those kids so you can take advantage of that:upsidedow

although i do think you can pay the extra 10 bucks and get an earlier boarding in A cant you?

looking forward to the pics of the animals from your room...did you get those?

and it seems like renting DVC is the way to go been hearing alot about it lately.

Glad you guys made it safely to Disney! That is the downside to SW, I suppose. We have the family boarding option in our favor on the way to MCO, but I've heard that MCO doesn't really do that since SO many families are there. So we purchased the early boarding passes for $10 each. Hopefully it'll be worth it!

Agh! I need to see more pictures of AKL!! :lmao:

The Boardwalk area really is nice! We rented points there and it was awesome! I loved being able to walk to Epcot and DHS. You can also take the monorail to MK (of course you have to walk through Epcot). The one thing that was rough was sharing the bus with EVERY Epcot resort! That includes Beach & Yacht Club, Dolphin (Fish, haha!) and Swan. Made for some long trips at times.

Can't wait to hear about your first night!!!

Joining in! Sounds like a fun trip! :cool1:

I love SW, but I hate their boarding process...I don't like the share the row that I'm sitting in with anyone (well, except my DH!) and once I get on the plane, I avoid making eye contact with people so they don't sit with us, trying to will them away with my mind! :rotfl:

Oooh, jealous you stayed at AKL, that's my DH's dream resort! We were supposed to stay there in November (3 weeks!) but I switched us to POR when Free Dining came out. I will definitely be renting points for our next trip! :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more!

i know what you mean about sw boarding. i did it for the first time last summer, and it freaked me out! i was never so anxious! but i did early bird check in, so my number was like A 20. for my upcoming vegas flight, i already bought early bird. i like grabbing that exit row seat!

:)

Oh I hate when the rental car places add all that crap on without telling you! So rude. I wonder how many people don't even notice and they get away with so much extra money. Ick.

When I went to Indiana, I thought it was so weird that they had a huge liquor aisle at a CVS. It was like diapers, tampons, cough medicine, aaaand vodka! You'd never see that in NJ... lol.

I really want the Boardwalk to be the next place we stay, too! I really want to stay in the Crest O' The Wave section but i'm sure it's one of the most expensive so we'll see. Can't wait to see your MNSSHP update! We're going next week, and I absolutely can not wait for it!!!

You were there the same time I was there with a mom's only trip! We were at the same MNSSHP getting rained on!;) Joining in as AKL is one of my favorites!

I can't believe how much it rained this trip! It always happened around the same time everyday too. I hope you were able to enjoy your trip despite the rain :)

I think that's the way rental car employees get their bonuses. They have to sell a certain amount of the insurance & extras. Too bad for them I didn't want it!

Yeah we went to a Walgreen's later in the trip and it was the same way! So random! It's just bizarre to me.

Hope you have so much fun at MNSSHP! I'm hoping to update later today.

I think next time we'll go with the early bird boarding if we fly SW again. For an extra $10 it's worth it! Watching those families board I was just like 'Is there even gonna be any seats left??'

Welcome!

I definitely wasn't impressed with their boarding process. SW makes such a big deal out of it too like it's so great. I didn't think it was & I don't think most people do! :rotfl: I do the same thing on any plane I'm on. When I'm in my seat I'm always thinking 'please don't sit here, please don't sit here.' No luck. I always seem to be on full flights.

Renting points is definitely the way to go if you want to stay deluxe! I wish every deluxe property had DVC. It seems like eventually they will!

MCO did family boarding when we were there!

I have more pictures of AKL, don't worry. :)

I stayed at the Beach Club for a couple nights in 2009 and I remember the buses stopped EVERYWHERE. That's the only drawback of that area.

I'm sure when I have kids I will be singing the praises of family boarding. :rotfl: But this trip it just made me anxious! We'll probably pay for early bird if we ever fly SW again.

Yes I got plenty of pictures of the animals, don't worry! I ran to the balcony everytime we set foot in the room.

Renting DVC points is great. It cuts the cost WAY down if you want to stay deluxe. Poly is my dream resort though and they don't have DVC! :(

This was my first time going through a body scanner. I set the thing off! It said there was something in my back pocket. There wasn’t. They stopped me to pat me down and then let me carry on to our gate.

the classic, miss, you have something your back pocket i need to feel it to check it out...ohh those TSA people will do anything for a little feel up.:lmao:

its something i will look into for our next trip thanks for the heads up.:thumbsup2

I'm here! Finally. I know, I know, shameful. (P.S. I have a PTR. It's really slow and boring though lol...so rush on over! :rotfl:)

Oh my goodness, that beer you had at Smokey Bones sounds delish! I want one! And I'm not even much of a beer drinker! Sometimes though.

Your SW must be meaner than mine. The same way that you said that they let families with small children go first, they didn't on my last flight. For the reason you gave that there were so many. I even asked and they were like "That's nice, this flight is to Orlando, everyone has small children, deal with it." While thinking in my head, well fine, if I can't find a seats for me and my 2 year old together, prepare for my wrath. (We found seats. Thank goodness, for SW's sake! :lmao:)

Also, that was really lame of them to block Netflix. Please email them. I'm a huge believer of writing to companies if they do something lame like that instead of just complaining. Just because if they are truly a good, worthwhile company, they will hopefully correct it with you personally with reimbursements or whatever and if enough people bring it to their attention, they can stop the madness and correct themselves permanently. And if not, then you can really complain and let everyone know how much they fail. (Whoops, tangent. My bad. LOL)

Do you guys have ANY alcohol in grocery stores in NJ? Colorado has like beer and wine coolers and that's it, BUT they reduce the alcohol in everything by like half. It has to be 3.2% or lower. WHY EVEN BOTHER SELLING IT AT ALL? I have always wondered. Pointless.

Oh AKL, how I love thee! Do you know something funny and crazy? I had a friend who was there the same dates as you! And he was at ESPN Club watching the Broncos game the same time you were there! If I would've known you were for sure at the same place at the same time, I might've told you guys! (Lol, not that he would've been great or fun to meet. He is one of Garret's good friends from high school who only went because his parents took him and was never even excited and came home and only said his trip was okay. Definitely a lame, non-Disney-lovin', stick in the mud! The only thing he got excited about from the trip was that he found a hoodie with a beer holder pocket. LOL :sad2:)

Anywho, can't wait for more!! YAY MNSSHP!

Augh, that's really annoying about Netflix! I'd totally write to SW! I've always wanted to make it over to the Boardwalk and never have! It seems like ESPN Club has a really great vibe-- I'm glad you guys were able to enjoy the game!
Can't wait to hear about MNSSHP!!

I'm planning to write them! We were pretty ticked.
You've never been to the Boardwalk area?? You have to go!! Even if it's just to walk around. It's so easy to get to, just walk out the back of Epcot! Are you still going the end of the month?

Yay you made it! I'll have to check out your PTR. Aren't you going on a cruise??

I guess my opinion of SW will be solidified after they respond to the email I'm going to write them. I'm writing them Kimmy don't you worry! I'll let you know how it turns out.

Nope. The only place I've ever seen any kind of liquor was in a Wegman's in south Jersey closer to PA. Definitely not up around me. They sell the Friday's drink mixes but that's about it.

You should've text me and told me! I would have found him and demanded to know why he didn't like Disney. :rotfl: Then he could have told you all about the crazy girl that accosted him at ESPN.

It's definitely worth looking into. I rented from someone on DIS that I've talked to for years. She was great!

Day 1 Part 2

So we were left with a question drive to MK or drop the car off at AKL & take the bus? I hate parking at MK so we opted to take the bus from AKL. It arrived a minute or two after we got to the bus stop.

We arrived right before 7 as MNSSHP was just getting underway.

Aloha Isle for Dole Whip floats!

I wanted our first ride of the trip to be Haunted Mansion. Seemed fitting with us being at MNSSHP. As we were walking toward HM I heard my name being called. It was my client Barb and her son Derek! I knew they were going to be at the party and we had texted a bit but I didnt expect to run into them like that. We chatted for a few minutes as they were headed toward HM too. We swung by the Trick or Treat spot at the Liberty Belle boat on the way. Kris and I stopped to finish our Dole Whips outside HM and Barb & Derek headed inside.

I snapped a few pictures while we finished our treats.

The Liberty Belle. Take note of those ominous looking clouds.

We walked through the interactive queue which was cute. A good way to keep you occupied during a long wait but Ive never seen HM with a long wait so&we breezed right through most of it LOL.

For once I didnt get stuck on HM! It always seems to happen to me especially in the part with Leota's floating head. When I went to Disneyland last year I got stuck right in front of the crazy bride. That was CREEPY.

When we exited HM we immediately got on line for the PP op with the horseless carriage. Unfortunately it started downpouring and they shut it down. So sadly we never got that picture L We were going to wait the rain out but it didnt look like it was going to let up anytime soon so we made a dash through Fantasyland and got on the first ride we saw.

Its a Small World. *Sigh* I feel like Im betraying Walt by saying this but I cant stand this ride. The song drives me nuts. I can tolerate the one in Disneyland because the exterior is killer and Disney characters are worked in throughout the ride but the WDW version...ugh. I agreed to go on it just to get out of the rain.

After IASW the rain had let up just a little bit and we made our way over to Tomorrowland. Kris had never seen Monsters Inc Laugh Floor so we jumped in line for that. A picture of us so you can see how soaked we were.

523305_10151071772997944_1762476871_n.jpg

They didnt use our joke but Kris got picked on before the show. The screen showed me and the caption said has kissed a monster. Then the camera panned to Kris. Then they showed the guy in front of us and it said theres a monster behind you. Again the camera panned to Kris. He hates drawing attention to himself so I think he was a little embarrassed but I thought it was cute!

After Monsters, we took a spin (pun intended) on Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin. I did horribly with a score of 95,000 and Kris got 300,000. That game is hit or miss for me! There was no wait for Space Mountain so we jumped on that next and got some candy from in front of Carousel of Progress. There was a short wait to get our picture taken with Buzz LIghtyear so we waited. I dont have any on my camera but I do on Photopass. Ill post those ASAP (get on that Dan! ;) ) I asked Buzz if he could dance like Latin Buzz from the TS movies. He obliged and started twirling me around. So fun! I love it when the characters are in character LOL.

After we met Buzz we grabbed some popcorn and waited for Hallowishes to start. A good show as usual although I prefer regular Wishes. After the fireworks we headed over to Frontierland. I love BTMRR in the dark so we headed to that first and then walked through the Brer candy patch line. Twice. Without meaning to. There was so much going on over there we thought we had gotten in line for Splash but we ended up going around the candy patch for a second time LOL. We then found the correct line for Splash and ended up with the front row. It had stopped raining at this point and we were almost dried off. Well wouldnt you know it we got soaked all over again. Oh well!

The second Boo To You parade was about to start after our tour of the mountains so we stuck around Frontierland to watch it. This is my favorite parade in all of Disney! The song is super catchy (Kris kept singing its really not so scary over and over again for the rest of the week) and the characters are so cute dressed in their costumes! Ill let the pictures do the talking (sorry they didnt come out too great) BUT I want to point out how impressed I am with Disneys employees. I had my birthday button on and as Jack Sparrow was passing us on his float he wished me a happy birthday. He spotted the pin from all the way up there. I was a happy girl after that! I love Jack Sparrow and sometimes forget the Jack Sparrows in the parks arent really Johnny Depp. Wouldnt it be cool if it was though? Just one time. DO IT JOHNNY! Ahem. Anyway here are some pictures of the parade.

After the parade I hadnt had my fill of Jack Sparrow so I suggested we go on Pirates then head back to AKL. We did just that and stopped at the Trick or Treat station by the Jungle Cruise.

155191_10151071774037944_79674312_n.jpg

We left the park and headed over to catch the bus. This was when Kris decided we should drive to every park. There was a long line and it took about 10-15 minutes for one bus to show up. Hes an impatient person so he was not pleased. Then the bus stopped at Kidani first so that just made things worse. Im used to the buses so I didnt really care but I didnt feel like arguing so I just let him complain. Not too much later we were back at AKL and ready for bed. For some reason I snapped this picture before we turned in. I guess because we set the candy bags down on the kitchenette counter and this was on one of the tiles.

It had been a great first night in Disney and I was excited for the days to come! I hope you are too :)

Stay tuned...

It was a woman that had to pat me down. :rotfl: I saw the little picture of a yellow dot on my back pocket. I don't know what could have set it off. :confused3
hmmm, nothing metalic, do you think those things also detect gaseous products that are not suppose to be there?

did you have mexican the night before?:thumbsup2:rotfl:

sorry i couldnt refuse...hope your not mad:hug:
I dont have any on my camera but I do on Photopass. Ill post those ASAP (get on that Dan! ;) )
wow the pressure...CD is ordered...i had to wait for someone at the very end to finish up editing there pictures, i think her name was Jen?:rolleyes1;)

Ugh I hate parking at MK too, it's so annoying! That's part of the reason I love staying at the Wilderness Lodge so much, you can just hop on the boat and you're there! I'd like to try the buses from POR this year, but I've heard they are kind of annoying, so we'll probably just drive. Not looking forward to it!

HM is a great first MNSSHP ride! When I was there last year, I waited til it was dark to go on...I thought it would make it creepier, but then I realized, duh, the ride is inside. The outside looked nice and creepy, though! :thumbsup2

OMG I got stuck in front of the bride last year! It was horrible, I had to keep looking away from her, because I swear, her eyes were looking right at me! :rotfl: I was happy when we started moving again!

I love the Boo to You parade, love your pictures! That would be amazing if Johnny Depp was Jack Sparrow at a meet and greet someday! :rolleyes1

Cute pictures of MNSSHP! Remind me... What day of the week did you go? Did you find it annoyingly crowded?

I have a feeling that the gravediggers will be my favorite part of the parade as well!

We went on a Sunday. I didn't think it was very crowded at all. All the rides were walk on. I usually don't do the character meet & greets so I'm not sure how those lines were but I thought it was fine!

I feel like parking at MK is an adventure. First you park, then you take the tram, then you have to go on the monorail or the boat. It's so much easier to take the bus. Drops you off right there!

I thought the same thing that she kept looking right at me! I felt like the heartbeat kept growing louder and louder. It was freaking me out. I was ready to hop out of the doom buggy and walk the rest of the way through LOL.

I treat them all like they're Johnny Depp so if it was REALLY Johnny Depp, I would probably faint.

Not mad :rotfl: But no Mexican. Smokey Bones remember??

It couldn't have been me! You must be referring to some other Jen.

Seems like you had a great time at MNSSHP! I love your parade pictures!! The dancing ghosts are the best!

Sounds like a great start!!! :thumbsup2

I'm so excited for MNSSHP, and your photos made me even more so! :yay:

I think it's kind of funny you guys got a Cruz at the rental place  but it's good, because as you said, you were familiar with it already.

Did you get any photos from your balcony?
