I think discounts that are public will be hard to come by right now

Economic reports are showing Disney on the rise for 2008 with bookings; so, why should they do a public code? Evidently, their marketing is working and they are doing well with their strategies. It is curious that in our current state of conditions with our economy that Disney is doing so well.

I'm still looking for a code myself; since, I didn't get a personal discount code, yet. I'm not going without a good discount. I have an open date to go whenever; so, I'll just wait it out. I went Dec. 2007; so, I can wait for a good deal.

Also, if a deal doesn't come my way this year with Disney, I'm okay to go somewhere's else for vacation. I'm not married to Disney. I do like going there, but I have skipped it for as much as three years; so, I'll wait it out.

I believe Disney looks seriously at their bookings between 3-6 months out and they base their decisions on public discounts based on their percentages of those bookings.

If someone has a rumor of a public discount coming soon I would love to hear about it.

I have thought the same thing! Apparently the economy is not affecting whether or not people are going to Disney!
I am worried the general public codes may not come at all!:sad2:

Actually, I don't think it's all that odd- during the Great Depression, the only places that consistently made money were movies and other escapist attractions. We're going to Disney World the way that people in the 30's went to movies. It's escapism, pure and simple. :) Not that it makes sense, but it's human nature :)

over here (uk)we plan our holidays(vacations)at lest 12 months in advance.so if anything the international market would slow later in the year.i have always heard that amaricans plan more on the spur of the moment so you would see american bookings fall sooner

I think economic factors are simply not showing up yet in WDW bookings, because people tend to book trips many months in advance (often a year or more). By summer/fall I think things will slow down for future bookings in 2009. Just my prediction.

I think you're right. I also think that a lot of people are taking a wait and see attitude regarding their ressies. I won't be surprised if a lot of people wind up canceling and we get some great last minute deals.
