I'm calling the doctor Monday morning
How did the Dr figure this out? Do they do allergy tests on your scalp? I'm not trying to be snarky, I'm really wondering. My Aunt has an appointment with her Dr next week because she's losing hair in clumps too. Did it grow back?
Suave is the ONLY shampoo I use on my hair anymore. I used to use the higher end products from the salons and they did nothign for my hair. I started buying PAntene at the store and that was a disaster. When I switched to Suave, I got my shine back and my hair always feels and looks healthy.
I started losing my hair last summer in large clumps. It wasn't the shampoo. I have a hormone imbalance as well as some other things going on. My suggestion would be to call the Dr. ASAP.
Not to be nitpicky and petty, but the shampoo that caused the allergic reaction is not "crap"- you are just allergic to an ingredient in it. Many people use that brand and are happy with it, so calling it crap is, IMO, a bit harsh. You wouldn't call peanut butter "crap" just because you found out you had a nut allergy, would you?Just wanted to post an update.
It was an issue caused by a chemical in the shampoo. Basically the doctor said that it seems my skin is sensitive to harsher products. I don't have anything medically wrong with me except for an allergy to what I was using. I went back to using my normal product and tossed the other crap in the trash and my hair is fine now. I'm getting lots of new hair growth so things seem to be getting back to normal. My hair is back to being soft and not so "straw" like. My doctor said she gets people in with the same issue and sometimes its because of new birth control pills, different medicines that the person might be taking. But not in my case since I'm not on any sort of medication, no recent stresses or major life changes and have no medical issues.
All of this was because of a friend leaving her bottles of shampoo here so that she didn't have to transport it back on a plane to go back home. I felt bad about just tossing it so I used it. Never again-anything left at my place is being tossed.
