I still can't believe this happened....my weekend -

On Saturday, dd and I went and saw Daddy Day Care (very good by the way - we laughed alot). We left the theater and I waited about 5 minutes for her to go to the restroom. Got to the car, took the 10 minute ride home, pulled in the garage, shut the car off, went to grab my purse and......NO PURSE!!!! OMG - in hysterics I run in the house and call the theater. Tell them where I was sitting, what theater # and where my purse was. They get back on the phone - I'm sorry but there wasn't anything there. So I go out there myself and go and check - look under the seat I was in, looked under the seats in front of me...no purse. It's gone. After talking with a very rude, ******* manager - I go out to my car and bawl....OMG - my life was in that purse!!!!!

So today I'm sitting here calling there rest of the places that I couldn't reach on Sat night. But the fortune thing was, as the officer also told me, my checkbook was in there but there were only 3 checks!!! That is a good thing - so far. Now the next thing to deal with is getting a new drivers license and getting my daughter's social security card replaced (usually I don't carry this around but I had it with me because I've had to use it lately for various things). My stomach is still just crushed in regard to this....I feel like my life has just been revealed - even though the chances of anyone taking some of the stuff in there is low.

One good thing - I didn't have house keys in there and my cell phone was in the car so it wasn't in my purse.....UGH!!!!

That's horrible! I'm so sorry this happened to you. Maybe it will reappear. Another reason why I don't take a purse into the movies with me.

I'm so sorry this happened to you. We women tend to carry "our lives" around with us in our purses. I know how you feel with that stomach sinking to the bottom of your feet when you first thought you lost it. Just Thank God it was only your purse where most of the stuff is just that ... "stuff". Good Luck replacing all of it.

Oh my gosh! I can only imagine your grief! My life is also in my purse ~ heck, not only mine, but my mom's too! My mom is terminally ill & doesn't carry a purse anymore, so I have all her ID & insurance cards & cash on me! I think the worst would be losing my appt calander! I call that "my brain!" I wouldn't know where I'm supposed to be if I lost that & all the Doc appts I have scheduled for my mom.

I'm so very sorry! I hope someone honest turns it in. I found a wallet once in a store parking lot & I did try to reach the person it belonged too but they were not listed, so I returned to the store later on that night & had not only the manager present but 2 other employees (so they'd all be accountable to each other) because there was lots of $$$ in the wallet & I was hoping the owner would get it all back. I hope someone picked up your purse & has been trying to reach you to return it.

I probably wouldn't have had it with me in the theater either but we were possibly going to go see two movies - one after the other - and I didn't like the thought of that much cash in my pockets. It's amazing what you have to do to get new things - learned a big lesson with this one I did!!!!! And to top it off dh was out of state so I had no way to get any cash or anything on Sunday until he got home.....and I needed some groceries.....

I am so sorry this happened.

Maybe you will still have it returned. Last week a man lost his wallet that had all has credit cards,debit card and $500 cash in it. A woman found it and tried to find him but his DL had his old address on it. She looked in the phone book and he was unlisted. She went to WinnDixie trying to get his current address for his frequent shopper card. She finally went back to his old address and contacted his neighbors until she found one that had his phone number. She returned all his belongings to him and refused any reward!!! Her name???? ANGEL!!! The man said she truly was an Angel and that her mother must have had high hopes for her!!!

That stinks. About 4 years ago I left my purse at my DD's school, in the gym. We were there for a night time gym show. It's the worst feeling, wondering & hoping it's still there. Luckily for me someone turned it in and it was locked in the gym teachers office. Talk about being relieved. My BIL was staying at a hotel in Delaware just 2 weeks ago. He went downstaires to check-out but left his belongings in the room . He pulled the latch open so he could turn in the keys then pick up his things & leave. When he got back to the room his wallet, lap top, cell phone and palm pilot were all gone. They left his clothes and car keys. My SIL had to call and cancel everything in his wallet. The worse news of all, they do all their banking and bill paying over the internet and my BIL had all of his passwords written in a folder that could easily be opened He did that in case he forgot a password, not a good idea.

It happened to me at work. They cleaned all the money out and threw the purse in the mailbox. I got all the ccs and my drivers license back. I hope this is what happens for you.

I'm so sorry to read about your purse, Chris. I've never had that happen to me yet, but I've had friends in your shoes. It's a real pain. I can't even imagine how violated you must feel.

Maybe it will still be returned? I'm hoping you at least get some of it back.

Sorry to hear about losing your purse. BTDT. I usually get mine back, though.

The worst was when I was pick-pocketed in Nortre Dame Cathedral in Paris (during Sunday Mass, no less). It's so much worse "losing your life" when you're in a different country and don't speak the language well! Canceling credit cards was a real pain in the butt . Luckily, my passport was at my hotel.

Look on the bright side ... you have another chance at getting a stunning driver's licence photo!

It's probably too late but a lot of times thieves check for money and then toss it in the trash. I found my wallet like that once. I've lost my wallet three times in my life. Once it was returned. Now I keep copies of everything. It stinks.

That really stinks

I was going to say the same thing about making copies of the stuff you carry. Someone sent me an e-mail once explaining how you should make copies of all your credit cards and anything else important you may carry. Plus it said to call the main credit beurous to report it as well.

Sometimes when your upset you cant think of everthing youve got in there, so it seems like a good idea.

YIKES, 99! What a mess. Now you have to cancel all of those cards and deal with the bank, so inconvenient.

When Travis was about 8 months old he somehow got my wallet, I can't even remember how that came about. He put it in a cabinet door on our coffee table. I assumed I had lost my wallet. I cancelled every credit card we had. Then I went to dust that table and found my wallet

Good luck with this, I hope you find your purse and I hope no one uses those 3 checks.
