so my school's xmas dance is in a week. the theme is "christmas in paris." the dance takes place on two floors of my school, centered around a main staircase, that the dj plays behind. the main dance floor is in between the two stair cases. the cafeteria serves drinks. its a big shebang.
well, today, my old gym teacher stopped me in the halls and asked me to help. she took me to a store room and showed me what she was calling an "eiffel tower." (it looked like a kindergartener took a hack saw to some styrofoam) she asked me to fix it.
i spent two hours with the student body president in an autoshop garage freehanding a new eiffel tower stencil onto some fresh styrofoam (why styrofoam? i don't know. its what they gave me to work with)
i'm turning the support beams in the dance area into trees, and we're having christmas in paris, but "outdoors".
i'm going to have the eiffel tower and a city scape against a wall, overlooking the main dance floor.
i'm going to lace "stars" through the ceiling tiles, to give it more of the "night timey" atmosphere.
i'm going to lace lights through the banisters.
i'm making the cafeteria out to look like a french cafe.
i'm putting benches, tables, and street lamps in the area where the kids hang out.
currently, i'm trying to work out exactly how i'm going to attach three separated pieces of eiffel tower styrofoam together... (any ideas?)
mrs youngblood (the advisor) has basically given me the reins to do as i will. i have probably 10-20 solid workers who are going to listen to me to get all of this together. i have a week.
do you guys have any suggestions of something i should do?
do you guys have a winter formal/xmas dance?
whats your theme?
best school dance experience?
