I am so angry right now that I can't sleep. I purchased Disneyland tickets and had them sent overnight UPS so that they would arrive yesterday by 10:30am.My family of 6 planned to enjoy a weekend at Disneyland but UPS LOST the tickets! I wouldn't be so upset, except that when they had not arrived at 10:30 I called to ask where the shipment was and was told it was running a little late and it would be there shortly. Every 2 hours I called back, as my 4 kids sat sulking, and I was told that they were on their way and "it would be there sometime today" so we waited. Here it is 3AM the next day and still no tickets.
If I had known they were lost at noon yesterday, I would have went to Disneyland anyway and bought tickets (which, as you all know would be hundreds of dollars out of my pocket) because then at least I wouldn't have had to sit here with my heartbroken children all day waiting.
UPS says they "think" they can find them by tomorrow-if not we will have them Monday which is too late for us, we won't be able to use them. I can't sleep as I wonder if I should believe them or try to salvage what was supposed to be a great family weekend and go tomorrow and buy tickets at the gate.
When I asked how they were going to compensate our family for the missed day at Disney, the woman very cheerily said they would refund my shipping fee (ARE YOU KIDDING ME?? WHAT AN INSULT!) The tickets will be no good to me by Monday-we will be back to school and the daily grind and we cannot take time off to use the tickets by the time they expire. I am LIVID!
:headache: :headache:

Thanks for letting me vent.

*****UPDATE ON POST #21******

I am so angry right now that I can't sleep. I purchased Disneyland tickets from an agent and had them sent overnight UPS so that they would arrive yesterday by 10:30am so that my family of 6 could enjoy a weekend at Disneyland and UPS LOST them! :scared1: Wow that absolutely sucks!:sad2: I feel bad for you and your family. Is there any way that the agent you bought it from could refund your ticket cost since they sent them via UPS? I'm assuming the agent must've given you some sort of 'guarantee' or assurance that they would reach you overnight, right, or else you would have just bought them at the gate? Next time maybe you should just buy directly from Disney online and print the e-ticket; then you wouldn't have to worry about delivery.
In fact, if you decide to buy directly from DL and not wait for the tickets, you should do just that -- print at home. Then you go directly to the gate and they give you the ticket right there -- no waiting in lines at the ticket place, and the last time I did this it was cheaper online than at the gate. One thing to consider, if you don't wait for the tickets, you may have no recourse w/ the vendor because they will say you weren't there to accept delivery. IF they come in and you accept them, you may be able to negotiate some sort of discount (for the one day missed) w/ vendor since (again assuming) they probably guaranteed you next day delivery???
Good luck. I hope they come in first thing in the morning.

I hope they come today - but I also hope you can still go if they do not! That would be a terrible thing and a very sad weekend if you are not able to. I would be tempted to go in the a.m. and just buy more tickets. You should (between wherever you bought the tickets and UPS) be able to get your money back. Is there no insurance on the delivery? If it's guaranteed overnight and you did not receive it overnight......

Wow, I'm so sorry. I'm always worried about them losing my stuff too. Even when I have the come by regular mail, I'm nervous until they get here!

I agree with bumpershoot, give them a call. See if they can help you. I hope the weekend won't be lost for you!

Yeah, I had a major issue with UPS this week too on a pick-up.

Brown is not my friend . . . . .

Yours is worse tho--poor kiddos! I think you should go and enjoy yourselves.

That absolutely sucks! Could you buy one day tickets and have UPS reimburse you for their mistake?

POOP! on UPS just get up and GO!! You can always sell the tickets on ebay or use them some other time. MY grocery store sells them so I personally would have just gone and bought them and not had them sent.

good luck

I totally agree with the last post. Your message made me want to cry - I am SO angry for you. As I was reading I was thinking you should just go and try to sell the tickets on ebay or craigslist or such. I see ebay tickets go for close to full price anyway. GO! And let us know how things turn out. I'd love to hear that ya'll went and had fun anyway.

call disney, they should be able to maybe arrange will call like bumbershoot mentioned.

This is totally why I always print things out. A while ago I bought tickets from ticketmaster and had them shipped- of course they were lost. So now I just choose to print from home!

You should contact whomever you ordered them from and get a refund. They hopefully were smart enough to insure the shipment. Then go buy them from a reputable dealer.

With 596 posts to their credit, the OP did not just fall off a turnip truck. Surely they have read about the E-ticket option on this board. I would never have depended on an overnight shipment from any service for something causing such a headache. They should have used the E-ticket option or just plan to have purchased the tickets when they got there.

And before jumping all over "Brown", I would like to hear their story. Did the ticket agency provide the tickets to UPS in a timely manner, if at all? Any dealings I have had with a delivery service over the internet, I was provided with a tracking number to follow the package across the country, state, or whatever.

Hopefully the OP and family can salvage some of the weekend.

UPS does lose packages, much more frequently then Fed Ex in my experiences. I'm sorry for the OP but no way would I have waited around all day. OP I know this is late but you should have gone anyway, I would have for sure. Please contact whomever you purchased the tickets from and get a refund!!

When you have no room for error, use FedEx.

UPS is usually good but not as reliable as FedEx. DHL and USPS are usually awful and can't be depended on.

I always utilize the tracking systems and that way you know if it is out for delivery that day or not early in the morning.

Yup, that is my exact philosophy. I use Fed Ex a lot more than UPS, they are so much more accurate delivery wise.

Plus, FedEx will more reliably get it to you early in the morning, you can even pay a little more and get the 8:00AM delivery.

I know this has nothing to do with Disney tixs but UPS lost my DH's XBox. He had to send it in for the ring of death and on the return shipment they lost the XBox. Now personally I would have paid them to never find the dang thing but they did find it. I am so so sorry this has ruined your weekend. Not sure if there is anything any of us can say to make you feel better. The hardest thing on earth is to see our children heartborken.
