we just got back from our annual trip to the Christmas Party (which was awesome, as per usual)....we were at the party on the 7th and decided to do something new and ride the tomorrowland transit train thing (sorry--not sure of the proper name!), and it runs through Space Mountain. As we were approaching, I just knew something was up because it was looking way not dark enough to be Space Mountain! Sure enough, as we were circling around, the whole thing was lit up--we could see all the tracks and everything! Kinda creepy, actually.....Anyone happen to know what was going on? We asked a CM what was up, but the only thing they told us was that "it should be reopening soon." Anyone here know the deal? :confused3

Looked like a twisted metal mess didn't it?

We have seen it like that as well great engineering to say the least.

Our last family trip my oldest went to go on and it was shut down but he got to see it with the lights on. They gave him a FP to come back later. When it was time to go on again he did not want to. I think seeing it with the lights on freaked him out a little.

:rotfl2: It would probably freak me out, too! Some things are best left in the dark! :thumbsup2

I've seen it with the lights on. Hell I've road it with the llights on. Thats even weirder. It feels like your going to hit your head as those support beams come at you.

As a CP in the MK, they gave us a special Tommorowland party after the park closed in which we were able to ride SM with the lights on with the ride going top speed. Lets just say I will NEVER put my hands up on that ride again!!!

I've seen it with the lights on and i'm sure it must have been great to ride it then!

We were there at the same time! Wanted to ride Space but it was closed so went on TTA and saw it with the lights on. Did it ever open back up? We never made it back to Tomorrowland.

I got stuck on Tower of terror... stuck at the second level just as the door opens. They had to turn on the lights and let us out. Very weird seeing everything with the lights on.

We got stuck on Splash Mountain. We were stuck for a good 20 minutes before the lights came on and 3 CMs with flashlights came poking through our area. We never did figure out what they were looking for, but 5 minutes later, the lights dimmed and we were going again. I got really! sick of the "Laughing Place" ditty, though!

yep I have video of Space Mountain with the lights on!!!!!! taped from TTA.... awesome!!!!!!!

I have a phobia of large internal spaces, I have nightmares about being able to make out the definition inside of space mountain. Spaceship earth is another one that freaks me out.

Last Aug DS & I were riding the TTA.
Went through Space Mtn and the lights were on - it seemed smaller than what i had imagined

My family and I were riding the WEDway people mover (it'll always be that to me) once last year and the lights were on in SM. When we got to the end of the ride we asked the CM if we could just stay on and go through again. She said yes, so we did. All I had with me was my cell phone so I got about 15 seconds of really crummy video of SM with the lights on. It's awesome.
