I Saw Mommy Kissing Goofy Claus - Dec '09 - DAY ONE, FINALLY (2/20) - PG# 40

My crazy, crazy life! I am really hoping to get a chance to get on here and post you some birthday drama updates... but I have been working like a dog! (Note: most dogs don't work...)

I am going to try my darnedest to get on here tomorrow night after Madi goes down and get you guys back in the loop. Wish me luck! :wizard:

Ok...looks like the only day we are really in the same park is on the 9th...AK. Do you want to do that? I am going to TRY to get Tusker House for 8:00 for breakfast and Yak & Yeti for around 1:30 or 2:00 for lunch. Other than that, that's an open day. So, what do you think? If you want to go for those meals / times, we could eat together, or just meet somewhere / sometime in the park. I'm flexible! If you think you want to eat together, let me know because I can make the ADR for all of us on Thursday when I call...that way it is secured!

We too are going in Dec. It will be our first trip, and I am incredably excited, and have been getting antsy waiting for the park so I can plan our days, you are awesome!! While my husbands says he i just paying, not planning our nieces are coming along and the 16yr old is just as excited as me so she will help!!
Thanks

YA - I was hoping to do Tusker House that morning too! Add 3 to your ADR - that'd be great! WOOHOO :cool1: ! You wanna know what I just noticed? We both joined the Dis May '09 and now we can have our first Dis meet together!

Thanks! I totally understand your excitement, about a month ago my husband said we could either put a down payment on a new car or go to Disney World, I chose Disney. :rotfl2: But, like I told him we really need thi vacation because it has been a VERY long year. We are going Dec. 27- Jan. 2 We are staying in a Family Suite at All-Star Music, since there are six of us, I figured it was a good way to save some money.

Oh that sounds like it is going to be tons of fun - I'm interested to know about those suites, granted we're a family of 3, I'm still curious! I NEED this trip too - DF and I both have just had such a long year! He's lost some great co-workers to layoffs and we're grateful everyday to still have jobs! COME ON DECEMBER!

Ok, so I've totally commented on here before and read through things, but I suck at subbing! I'm subbing bow though!

HAHA! That's pretty funny! DH says our next trip after this is back to the Cape! SO, maybe we will see you there...when we are being tourists!!! Sorry ahead of time! LOL We will be the ones taking ferries to MV and renting bikes and doing whale watches and eating at the Hearth n Kettle! I know that is a chain up there, but we have eaten there every time we have gone and LOVE it!

Ohhhhh I want to hear Birthday Drama!!! I'm still so excited to see pictures from the party this weekend!

Who knew a 2nd birthday party would become such a royal pain in the butt?! I knew - I knew the minute I met with the cake lady and the voice inside my head was screaming: "YOU'RE HAVING THE CAKE MADE BY SOME STRANGER?" (In her defense, the "cake lady" is a well know baker and had her own shop up until the recession hit - I'm not going to some crazy I found on craigslist!).

The Plan:
We live in a condo and granted our unit is 1100 sq ft, it is just not big enough to accommodate the number of guests that would be attending Madi's birthday, so we opted to rent a local rec building ($40 is NOT bad!). Planning, planning, planning... making some purchases on line... getting the menus set... stuffing goodie bags...

The Glitch:
Friday night I am getting into my PJ's when I look over at the cordless phone base and see the little red light flashing at me... oh, a message! Someone must have called while we were at DF appt this morning. We hardly ever get calls on the home phone, so I hardly check the caller ID or voicemail when we get home. SO, now it is 8:30 PM on Friday night and I am listening to the voicemail: "Hello Jennifer, this is Kim from xxxxxxx Rec Dept. I am calling to let you know that the xxxxxxx Rec Building is currently undergoing some exterior remodeling and will not be available for your date. Please give me a call back so we may try to find you another location or another date." I about fell over! W.T.F?! Panic strikes... and of course now it is Friday night and I am going to have to dwell over this all weekend until the office opens on Monday. I booked this building in JUNE!!! Long story short - I call Monday and Ms Kim can do nothing for me! :scared1:

The Re-Workings:
After I calm down and remind myself that this is a birthday party for my DD and she wouldn't care if we had it in a tent in the middle of nowhere, I decided "eff it" - we'll have it at the house! Last year we had it here, but we spilt it in to 3 parties over the course of the weekend. 1st party: kids party, 2nd party: family party, 3rd party: our friend's without kids - party. We were all exhausted by the end of it all and we vowed to have one party this year. WELL, Kim went and threw a wrench in that one! The invitations had already gone out and 41 RSVP's had come in - calm down - I know that number sounds crazy, but there honestly isn't any one on that list that we wouldn't think of inviting! I provide childcare from my home so just 12/41 are "daycare kids" and their parents/siblings, and then we have our family and friends... So, we've decided to have a kids party in the morning with 19 people and then the rest will come in the evening for a family & friends party.

Oh, Woe is me! That's the drama in a nutshell and quite frankly all I can muster up for tonight. I have been working crazy hours this week and it is catching up with me. I wake up and have a child dropped off at 6:30 AM and then I am babysitting the family I used to nanny for some nights until midnight. One step at a time - more money in to the Disney fund!

exwdwcm - there most certainly will be plenty of birthday pictures to follow!!! And thanks for sharing your "smut" :rotfl2:
lol- anytime!

You tell me - here's my plan:
Dec 6 - arrive to CBR around noon, evening is open, DTD or a park maybe?
Dec 7 - HS
Dec 8 - EP
Dec 9 - AK
Dec 10 - MK & MVMCP
Dec 11 - open, DTD/Resorts/Park? depart around 4
what about a dinner at a resort restaurant on that night to get you in the mood- Chef mickey's or ohana's maybe? we are doing chef mickey's our first night and it is always such a great start to the trip- a ride on the monorail around is fun too. Of course DTD is always a great option and we can't wait to check out the new paradiso 37 for some ice cold beer and interesting food choices!

oh no on the birthday drama, what a complete mess!!! man, i would have been pissed too, but you are right, the kids don't really care about where the party is, in the end, it is about having a good time with friends and family, not the location or gifts or cake or whatever. :)

so did the release of the hours really change your original plans at all? so far, not much to mine, other than switching one dinner around. i was hoping for late MK hours on 12/16, but they close at 8pm instead. ouch!

I'm so happy to hear that you worked out the bday problem! It sounds like a lot of fun!
Everything will fall into place and it will be a great time for Maddi!!! party:
have a great day!
:wave2:

Funny you should ask... when the hours came out I swapped HS/MK around. MK is open until 11P on the 7th. HS is open til 11P on the 6th. So the new plan is:
6th: arrive around noon to CBR, hit up DTD, Dinner at Boma (I think... is that the one at the Poly? I don't have my notes right here) and the evening in HS to see Osborne Lights.
7th: MK 9A-11P wiht a nice long retreat to the CBR pool somewhere in the middle
8th: EP 9A-9:30P
9th: AK 9A-8P
10th: HS 9A-8P - but we will leave a little early and hop over to MK for MVMCP
11th: remains open - depart on ME around 4

Tonight is going to be my last free thought before Monday so I plan to iron out the dining and will come back with a report on that tonight or tomorrow. Tonight is another night of midnight babysitting, been up since 6:30 - wish me luck LOL

I just can't wait for the day to be here so I can stop the unnecessary stressing!

Geez! Sorry about all the birthday drama! It's hard...all of our kids' birthdays are within 2 weeks of each other. We have one big party! They are end of May to mid-June, so we do it outside, which I think makes for an easier clean up! Anyway, it will all work out n the end! Hope she has a great time!
