Not sure if this has been posted already - didn't get a chance to post yesterday. I went to the Orange Bowl Tues. night. I saw Mickey twice on the sidelines on USC side (not my team - we've had the seats for years; I'm a Gator!). Lots of cameras surrounding him. He was waving a lot and doing different poses. We got cards at our seats telling us there was going to be a special announcement. In the second half, they announced we would get free admission for one day to any park on any property with our tickets. Of course, they said they will have to mark our Orange Bowl tickets for redemption. I assumed it would only be for Disneyland, but they said all parks. What an exciting announcement - better than the game! I'm really surprised Disney would do that. But I thought maybe people wouldn't want to have their tickets marked because they'd want to save them. I have tickets from all the Orange Bowls I've gone too, esp. national championship ones). As if we needed another excuse to go to WDW! :D

Mickey was also at the Contiental Tire Bowl in Charlotte, NC. Continental Tire teamed up with Disney somehow and gave away a Magical Gatherings trip. And believe it or not, Mickey got booed!!! I couldn't believe it! He got booed a little during the half time presentation, but they showed him again in the 3rd quarter on the video screen and he got a pretty loud boo that time. Some people....

Thanks for information. I was trying very hard to stay awake to see what Mickey had to say. Got bored (!) and was flipping channels and almost missed the announcement about the tickets! That is great news for those who were in attendance and can take advantage of the offer.

ibleedblue: Isn't it un-American to boo Mickey?? Why would folks do that??
Makes you go "hmmmmm??"

ibleedblue, I can't believe they booed Mickey! I wonder why?

The value of Disney tickets given to the folks at Orange Bowl $4,300,000.WOW. :earseek: :cool1: :cheer2:

And the value to Disney of their hotel stays and all the souvenirs and food they'll buy... Priceless!! An excellent marketing move!

This may be a great marketing ploy for people who were there from Oklahoma, as they will have to travel to a Disney park. This may not be the case for all of those Southern Californians, however, if the giveaway was good for all Disney parks, given that the USC campus is only about 30 minutes away from Disneyland.

On a side note, I also saw Mickey flip the coin at the beginning of the Rose Bowl game between Texas and Michigan. I wonder if they did some sort of giveaway at that game as well?

p.s. for the ufgator, you may think Urban Renewal is on the way, but we know it's just an Urban Myth... :earboy2:

I read this also, 72,000 tickets were given away and the first think I thought of was how brillant was that. Great strategy.
