We were at Universal Studios Monday and Tuesday (March 29 and 30th) and we got to ride the Mummy on Monday. We noticed while we were in line for Twister at about 3:00pm that they had the Mummy line open so we headed over and asked what was going on. Apparantly they were testing the ride for a couple hours that afternoon and anyone was allowed to ride if they wanted to wait in line. We hopped in line and waited about an hour to get on.
IT WAS AWESOME! Imagine Space Mountain but with fire, special effects, and such and you'll have a feel for what to expect. The ride is pretty short (no more than 3 minutes) but well worth the wait. Some of the special effects weren't working (Such as there is going to be a tall robot of Imhotep that wasn't there yet when we rode).
If you are in the park head over and see if they have the line open. It is by far the best ride in the Universal Studios park, although serious roller coaster fans will find it doesn't compare to Hulk or Dueling Dragons (after all it is shorter and in a smaller space ). The special effects really make it special!
