in the mail today!!Uuugggh! I don't wanna GO!! There is NO way I can get out of it now....I work FULL TIME so I cannot check that box anymore!  RATS! With my rotten luck, they will most likely PICK ME!

I don't mind getting called for Jury duty. Last time I went, got picked and ready to go to jury selection and the guy plead.

I doubt they would ever pick me though. I'm too partial to law enforcement.

I have never understood why people hated to go to jury duty so much. I have yet to ever be called for jury duty, but am really excited about the prosepect of one day doing it. Perhaps because I have spent so much time in the court room I can appreciate it. (No I was not a defendant  I am a poly sci/criminal justice major, and have been in court tons of times).

This may sound really corny, but I think it is an honor and a priviledge to serve my "duty" to our criminal justice system.

I've reported for jury duty twice so far -- just got another questionnaire in the mail for selection again -- I almost got selected for a civil case -- but they got nervous cause two of us ladies knew what John Deere tractors were -- such is my adventure with that -- my first time I knew too many of the officers and lawyers :)

I never get picked for a jury!!! It's an experience I'd like to have at least once in my lifetime, but I haven't made it yet.

I have only been called once for jury duty. I was so excited and even more excited when they picked me. It was for a murder trial. I can't wait to get called again. Maybe next time I will get grand jury duty.

I have jury duty this week. I enjoy doing it and did get on a trial once. It was very interesting:)

Go in, say no mater what the person did he/she is guilty and should get life. Bet they will NOT pick you then.

I have received 2 letters, but when I call, I don't have to go in at all. I would, though.

And people complain about the ineffectuality of the system

It is really sad that so many people spend so much time and effort to get out of jury duty. :(
Then they sit around and wonder how OJ is still walking around a free man.

I would serve if I called and had to go and was picked. I would even try to have an open mind. (Despite what I previously posted :)

I've served on three jury trials - one for murder, one for rape and kidnapping, and one civil trial. The former two were very nervewracking.

All in all, I enjoyed it, and would gladly do it again.

I've been called several times but never made it on a jury panel. I would like to serve on a jury, perhaps not on a gory case, though.

I've never been called yet to serve. I guess I'd have to go if I were called but I'd hope to get something not involving murder or rape....I'd have nightmares. I can't even watch the news without getting so upset! :o

I DO NOT believe In doing Jury Duty!!!! I have seen too many GUILTY People Get OFF because of People wanting to GO HOME!!! Believe you me, I would want to go HOME too, if I was the ONLY one voting a certain way! I do NOT want the responsiblilty of someone's life In MY hands! Or anyone else's for that matter! After all, we are ONLY HUMAN!!!:o

Poohbear, jury duty can definetly be thought of as an inconvenience but you might find it an exciting adventure. My sister got put on a jury for a murder trial which she actually thought quite intriquing...........she also liked the big lunches the jurors got each day!!!:teeth:

Good luck!:D

I have not gotten called yet (I registered to vote when I turned 18 5 years ago), but I would probably get struck from most juries. My uncle is a police officer, and my mom has been held up at gunpoint twice. My mom ALWAYS gets struck from juries because of that.

Thanks for the insight, I was an Abused Wife, so I guess I can use that.:o I have NO Idea WHAT kind of trial this will be, so I am hoping My Number is NOT called!!

Since I work in a school, I defferred until summer & set aside a whole week for jury duty. When they were selecting, I stated that my 85-year old mother had a test scheduled the following week that I had to take her to - the judge told me that my husband could take her! Thankfully, the plaintiff excused me! (I think a week should be all the average person should have to do, unless they get paid by their employer to do jury duty & don't have someone at home who relys on them - like small children.)

I was on a trial many years ago regarding a drunk-driver. They kept me even though I admitted to being a card-carrying member of MADD (Mothers Aganst Drunk Drivers). The defense must have known what they were doing, because we didn't find the guy guilty.

I have only been called once and I just sat around a room all day. If you have to go, bring a book since often you do not get selected or you wait to see if there is even a case.

I didn't mind going..wouldn't mind getting summoned again. I would have minded two years ago before the new courthouse opened in Kissimmee. In the old courthouse they didn't have a room big enough for all the potential jurors so they usually had to sit in the hallway with no airconditioning. I have heard horror stories about being called then. But the new courthouse had a big juror room with TVs, vending machines, comfortable seats, moden jacks and outlets, etc. They have tried to make it more comfortable for people who have to hang around all day.
