today in regards to the construction and room availability- we planned on staying there from 19 March to 27 March, 2004. It mentions that I have four options: 1-Leave the reservations as is; 2-Cancel; 3-Reschedule to a later date when they will provide a free stay of an equal length at any time besides Easter or Christmas/New Year periods or 4-They will make reservations for us at another hotel.

What a decision! A free stay! We do have annual passes which expire 26 December. I will have to do a lot of thinking this evening!

You might want to post this on the Resorts board too - I think I saw someone over there say that they just got back, and that they got a 10% room discount because of the on-going construction. Just another thing to add into the equation.

A free stay would be very tempting.

That free stay sounds great to me.

Another vote for the free stay!

I would take the free stay, and consider taking a second trip to cash in on my AP as well as free room. You were planning to pay for one trip anyway. Now you can go twice for the same price!princess:

But I would have to find somewhere to stay on 19 March! Someone mentioned on another post that the SoG old rooms were not renovated which disappoints me!

Very cool, Jodi!!!! I bet they saw you looking at that webcam the other day. :teeth:

Take the free trip at Holiday time and if you can go now, use some codes, go really cheap!!LOL!

Have a wonderful trip or trips!

Enjoy!!!

:sunny: Miss that FL sunshine!!!!

Why don't you find out what other hotel they could book for you. Maybe you'd get a really great on-site resort for an extremely low price (are they still using the Contemporary?). If you play your cards right, I would think you'd be able to go when planned at an excellent rate and have the free stay at SOG later.

I was wondering how they were going to handle existing reservations when it was looking pretty obvious that they weren't going to meet their projected completion date.

Are you sure about the old rooms not being renovated?

Good luck with your decision!!!

Jodi, are you flying? b/c there are flight change charges to take into consideration. If driving, take the free stay!!

We have to definately go to WDW next week as my daughter and I are on spring break. Our flight was free as we always volunteer to get bumped and receive credit. The only problems are (1) getting a cheap room next week and (2) my daughter probably wouldn't be able to return with me at a later time so I was looking at Thanksgiving week where I could take off of work but she won't want to take off from school. I would feel better bad to leave her at Thanksgiving. I hope to get bumped again next week so the next trip would be free as far as airfare if that happens.

So, will you be staying at SOG? I guess I misunderstood. I thought none of the rooms were ready but after reading your post again it looks like they will have rooms for some of the people scheduled but not enough for everyone.

If you stay there, be sure and post a follow-up on what the "New and Improved" SOG is really like.

I keep my fingers-crossed for another "bumpy" plane ride for you and your daughter. ::yes::
