I am meeting with the travel agent tomorrow morning at 9. Here's the BIG question.

If you had the choice of staying at Disney 1 more day,(after being there for 14 days) knowing it would mean you wouldn't get home till about 10:30 p.m. and would have to get up at 5:00 a.m. to go to work, would you do it? How about if it also meant you would only have 1 weekend before Christmas to do all the little things you have to (we have 6 grown children with their own families with 11 grandchildren that are all here for Christmas Eve).

I know I'm being pigish. Intelligence tells me we should come home on Saturday to have a "down" day before going back to work. But when I'm at Disney I don't ever want to leave!

How about some advice out there. My head is spinning so much I'm not sure what to do! Help!

If it were a 6 day that got to be 7, I'd stay the extra day. But, since you will be there 14 days anyway, I'd have to say go with the logical side of your brain and not the Disney-addict side! Go home, unpack, exhale and get ready for the holiday with your family. It's my opinion. :earboy2:

Since you asked...

Go Home at day 14. One more day at Disney after 14 isn't going to be that earth shattering. One more day at home the week before Christmas, when you have not been home for 14 days will mean alot!

I vote for going home Sat. You'll need the time to decompress, to get ready for Christmas!!

I definitely agree with this. If it was a short trip, then I would definitely take the extra day. But since you're staying 14 days, that's plenty of time to see a lot of things! I wish I could stay that long. Especially after 14 days of a lot of walking around, you'll probably need at least a day of rest before you go back to work.

This has nothing to do with this thread, but I just found this smilie. :maleficen Yay I like this one...is it new? :teeth:

Do you just have to get yourself ready in the morning, or do you have a family to get ready too? If it is just yourself, I'd say WHY NOT stay one more day :flower: ? Life is short. Do what makes you happier!

Although this goes against everything I believe in I would have to stay go home on day 14 also. I am usually wishing I could add another day to my 5-7 day stays but I think after 14 I would feel very satisfied and ready to go home and take care of the holiday things. I know I would at least think about it too though before I made a decision. Disney World is funny that way isn't it? It just never seems long enough. :flower:

Thank you all for your advice! :sunny:

The logical side of me agrees with the majority of you. (yes, it is hard to believe I have a logical side when it comes to Disney :goodvibes ) The problem is the little girl side of me that just doesn't want to do the responsible thing!

Skroops, I just have to get myself ready to work. All the kids have flown the nest, just DH and I now.

A little bit of history here to explain why I'm being so pigish on our vacation. The last few years have been difficult ones with far too many deaths in the family. In 2000 I lost my best friend since childhood. 2002 my brother Vic. 2003 my sister Mona died in September and then my brother Tony died in October. Last August my mother died. For the past year I have been the executor to my mother's estate and although it is not a big estate it has been a very complicated one (for reasons I won't bore any of you with). So as you can see, the past few years have been difficult. This year is DH and my 20th anniversary. (Second marriage for us both, hence all 6 kids are grown and on their own). And while Christmas Eve is a BIG event here, I can have most of it prepped before we leave for Florida. Of course some things can't be, like food!

OK, I'm going off on a tangent here. Thanks for the input. I guess I should be adult about this. Plus after being gone 2 weeks the dog and the cat would probably like some time to ignore us when we get home. :rolleyes1

I always need a down day and after 14 days....yikes! That's a long time!

Is this your first trip? Is this the longest trip you've ever taken down there?

I know you have already met with the TA and made your decision but I just can't help putting my 2 cents in. I would add the extra day but play it this way. On day 14 I would make a full day and night of it and sleep in on day 15. After a quiet brunch I would get my bags down to bell services or my car if I was driving and then just rest and relax until it was time to go to the airport. This will result in Sunday still being a decompression day but I would still be at DW.
