I like a lot of her stuff but like someone else posted she hasn;t had anything out in a while now.

That's probably by design. Since she writes most of her own stuff, she probably just took a break to spend some time with her family.

I don't "get her" either. When my father died, they asked what kind of music my dad liked and what we wanted played during the viewing. My mom said he liked country western music. Shania Twain ain't no country western music IMHO, and it's not what he would've chosen! I guess it's all they had on hand. My dad would've liked the kind of background music you hear playing in Frontiertown at the Magic Kingdom.

When I heard her voice I looked at my mom and exclaimed "who approved this music and who can I get fired for it?" I was just joking about the firing part, but I was none too happy to hear one of her entire CDs playing while I was grieving.

From here on out, she'll be associated with that sad day in my life.

I'm not a big fan of her's or country music in general. But she wrote one song that is really very nice. Almost perfectly "constructed", if you're into that sort of thing. I think it's called "You're the One" or something like that. Of course, it could have been her husband that wrote it - I don't know.

I'll have to disagree with some of you, I don't think she is very talented. She was an almost has-been with an album that wasn't successful until she had the priceless good fortune to hook up with Mutt Lange, who is a genius.

After that came her big breakthrough with an album of songs written by her (and Mutt) and produced by Mutt.

Her main contribution is that she pulled country music even more toward pop, blurring the line between the two. Not only with the music she made but the image she projected. And I don't consider that a good thing.

But most think she looks good and in this day and age that matters more than a lot of other things
