Well..... kind of!!! :confused3
Get your coffee cause this might be long!!! :surfweb: popcorn::

PLEASE PLEASE.... no flames --- just enjoy my excitement!

Out of desperation (longer story) I took a job about 3 weeks ago, with the intent that it was temporary because of the distance from our home and the nature of the industry (Biotech --- which I am clueless about) just to have some money coming in until a more favorable job in my field became available.

I have been interviewing for jobs in my field (Financial Services Industry) for 9+ months since I quit my job in Texas to join DH and DS here in Colorado. Since the stock market took a dive in October the only positions I have been offered was at 1/2 my prior salary. I could not honestly accept those with the intention of continuing to look for something that was a better fit. The market I work in is very specific and everyone knows everyone so I just had to hold out for the right job. I could NOT burn a bridge or I would be outcast.

Well... POOF:wizard: out of the blue a company that I thought would NEVER be interested in me called. This was at 9a on Wednesday for a phone interview that afternoon. I accepted the call and during the conversation they asked if I could come in after work to meet the other Executives. :scared1: Thank heaven I was dressed in a suit that day --of course I said yes and stayed for 1.5 hours. GREAT interview and GREAT chemistry with the team :woohoo:.

This was my DREAM COMPANY --- other than actually working for Disney and it went well. :goodvibes... I was SO excited !!!

During the interview they mentioned that they were at the end of the interview process , they had already done 2nds and had basically already made a decision and had promised the other candidates a response by 5pm on Thursday. Remember this is now 6:30pm on Wednesday night. I thought maybe they were just doing someone a favor by interviewing me since they recommended me. My heart sank :sad1:

They called me on my drive home after the interview to ask if I could submit some consent forms for a industry standard background and credit check that night so they could verify my worthiness, I was somewhat shocked at the request knowing what they had just told me in the interview. They said I "blew them away" and I WAS THE #1 CANDIDATE !!!! I stayed up late getting all the paperwork (we are talking W-2's for the past 3 years amongst other documentation that I had filed away for that "just in case" situation).

I could hardly sleep on Wednesday night --- Tired as heck and being the good girl I am I went to work at the "salt mine" (a Pinocchio reference) on Thursday morning with a smile on my face. Hoping and praying they would call and make an offer.

At 9:01a they called and gave me a verbal under the condition I "checked out". :rotfl2: OMGosh!!!! I could not believe it!!!!
By 7p I had passed inspection and received the official written offer :thumbsup2
But here is the catch... I have to start by 6/29 to be eligible for a bunch of benefits (like bonus!!!) for the year other wise I have to wait until 1/1to be eligible. So that meant I could only give 6 days notice to the job I was at and what about my DL vacation that I had been planning for the last week of JULY!!!

There was NO WAY I was going to tell the new company "I HAVE TO GO TO DISNEYLAND" next month and I need the time off and jeopardize the job :guilty:

So I did a bad bad thing...... I quit my job at the salt mine effective immediately -- Thank heaven they were not upset and understood that this was an opportunity I could not pass up. They mentioned that they hired me cause they knew I was a good catch but in the back of their minds knew that I would one day move on -- they just did not expect THIS soon!!! So I packed up my desk after lunch and called DH to tell him how excited I was about the new job but bummed that we could not go to DL for our vacation in July.

He said GO NEXT WEEK when you are between jobs --- so with that said DS and I are going to DL on Sunday for 5 days !!!!!! We are bummed that DH cannot go right now due to a HUGE project he has been working on for 1 year that finalizes in late July. But man, what a guy... letting us go without him and we even leave on Father's Day!

Oh..... WHERE do I start ...... DL in 3 days and I have not even planned a thing!!!

WHOO HOO!!!!! DL here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Crap I have to go pack!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for reading !!!!!!!!!!

Don't feel bad about quitting with no notice. I worked in the insurance industry for years. In my experience, when someone gave their two weeks notice, they were walked to the door that day. Chances are, they wouldn't have required you to work the full two weeks.

But you should never feel bad about doing what's best for you and your family. Congratulations on the new job.

Congratulations on your new job and have a wonderful time at DLR! :cheer2:

AAWWW, that is a GREAT man!!!
