I've been lurking on the DIS for about a year now, and our trip is finally in the works! So many thanks to you all already, as I would be completely lost in this planning process without having read so much of the excellent advice on the boards.

I grew up in California, going to DL every few years, but I don't recall my parents doing much planning beyond figuring out where we would sleep. It appears that WDW is a whole different ball game...

I now live in Georgia with my hubby and two DDs (4 years old and 1 year old). We're heading to WDW for the first week of September, staying at SSR in a 1 bedroom villa. We're planning 2 days at MK, one each at DHS, EPCOT, and AK. Thanks to you all we have oodles of good reservations for meals (made at exactly 180 days at 6am), are planning for afternoon pool or nap times, and nearly have the FP+ reservations planned out. Thanks for all your help already!:banana:

Hi there! We're West Coast as well -- currently stuck in Seattle, but stubbornly refusing to give up our DLR APs -- and made our first trip as a full family to the Magic Kingdom during the last week of May for Star Wars Weekend. I'd have been lost without all the great advice here on the boards.

In my experience, the same kind of planning required for the Magic Kingdom just isn't needed for Disneyland. There's just the two parks, after all, and they're mere feet away from each other, just across the plaza.

There aren't many table service restaurants, in either park, and no buses to worry about between parks. I do notice that DLR now has online scheduling for ADRs just like MK, but aside from the restaurants at the Grand Californian (especially Napa Rose) and the Bayou (which we've never had trouble reserving from within the park itself), there's just not that same level of planning required.

Thanks for the welcome! And please do eat at Blue Bayou for me-- I really miss that place :)
