I want a ipod shuffle,but......

Can I put tunes from my comp into it or od I have to buy from itunes?
Dont want to limit myself to i tunes.

You can put any MP3 onto it - however any tunes you buy from iTunes will only play on your iPod. (at least thats how it used to be and I dont think it has changed)

Bear with me on this because I am new to all this ipod business but I have a shuffle too. You can put songs from your own collection (via your computer) on it and I buy songs from Amazon because they seem to be cheaper than going direct to itunes. Is that what you meant?

I downloaded songs from various CDs into my iTunes library and then synchronized by iPod.

Corrina, sorry to bug everybody but, A lot of music I have already downloaded onto comp, albums I bought online from hmv etc, this is maybe so obvious folks have not said, but can I switch them into i tunes from my comp as opposed to from a cd.

I am pretty sure that I imported some music that was already on my hard drive into the iTunes library. It just converted the files from MP3 to their file format.

If you buy one from Apple, you get free engraving. I got my daughter's name put on hers. I like the shuffle - it's absolutely fine, not as whizzy as my friends' ipods but ok for what I want. I'm only just getting accustomed to not having a walkman. I miss the whirring sound of rewind and forward.

Come on joolz, get with it, thanks for the tip, I want the old fashioned shuffle, the new one has controls on the ear phones cable, I like my own ear phones so going to get the older one with 2gb. They dont have them on the apple web site which is a real shame, the engraving looks cool.
That is my project for work tonight,find the cheapest on the net. hope I am not busy, feel free to post a link to any youve seen

When I was buying an ipod, the prices seemed to be the same everywhere I looked. I think Amazon was a couple of quid cheaper.

Have a look on Amazon too - some of their tracks are 29p!
