I never knew there was an enormous steerhead just down the road from our house...

...and directly across the street from this gigantic steerhead is a restaurant where John Wayne, Mae West, Al Jolson and many other Hollywood stars of the past have eaten!

My New Year's resolution this year is to get out and see more of Arizona and the West Coast. I also made it my husband's New Year's resolution.:rotfl: We've been out here over a year now and have seen quite a bit, but there is so much more waiting to be discovered.:) We have copper mining nearby, and the Titan Missile Museum, the only place in the nation where people can tour an underground missile site.

Here are the two places we discovered today.

The Longhorn Grill.

The Cow Palace.

One of the fun aspects of living in a part of the country that you've never lived in before is discovering new and different (and sometimes, strange!) things!:)

I have eaten at both places, good food, and nice atmosphere.

Wow, what a GREAT resolution.......for both of you :rotfl2:

Heres to a year of NEW places to see and visit and experience................:flower3:

My new year resolutions are sort of similar!

My first was to spend my days off doing something fun instead of sitting around the house being sleepy and grocery shopping!

My second is to see more of Florida! I moved here from England nearly four years ago and have only really seen the area where I live (Disney!) and Boca Raton where my in-laws live. I really want to get down to the Keys, maybe see Miami and places like St Augustine. I figured I can combine the two and maybe see more of the state this year.

Now I just have to convince DH to stop sitting around on his days off and come with me!

We really liked the food and atmosphere at the Cow Palace, and we'll try the Longhorn Grill soon.

Thanks! Yeah, I think it's the kind of resolution that will be fun to keep!

We're planning a trip to England sometime in 2011. We've never been, and I'm very excited!:yay: I see you're leaving in a few weeks-enjoy!!

Before moving to Arizona, we had visited California (did the road trip down the coast from San Francisco to San Diego) and had been to Las Vegas. We've also spent a few weeks in Hawaii. Now that we're livng out here, we realize there is so much that is within a day's drive of the Tucson area.

In the past year, we've been to Phoenix many times, took a trip to the Grand Canyon, have been to Los Angeles and Las Vegas a few times, and have visited Tombstone, the Desert Museum, Old Tucson Studios, and driven through the Santa Catalina Mountains to the top of Mt. Lemmon.

We're only about forty miles from the Mexican border and haven't gone down there yet, so that's on our list for this year. Also on the list- Bisbee, Sedona, Salt Lake City, and places in Southern California.

Our next adventure is a drive to Lake Havasu City, AZ to see the original London Bridge that was dismantled, shipped over here and rebuilt brick by brick. And, I want to visit places where the original Route 66 still exists.

So much to see and do!
