Hi!
I am looking for some experiences you have had with using the SandCastle club at the Yacht & Beach Club.
As much detail as possible please!

My husband and I are trying to see if we can take our 7 (almost 8) year old nephew to WDW for a week in either sept or october, and we were thinking that one night we might want a little time to ourselves. Being that he is not our child, I am a little hesitant, but he is going to be 8 years old, so he is well aware... plus he's incredibly smart. Do you think he'd be OK, is it fun. How are the cm's that work there?
Do they eat there too?

any and all experiences will be helpful!!! thanks!

Its been a while since my kids were young enough to go but when they did, they enjoyed it. There are video games, movies, and you can order a meal for an additional fee from the room service menu. The number of child care workers is mandated by the state of Florida so they will only accept the number of children that they can legally care for by law. We have used the Cub's Den and the Neverland Club in the past as well, and all have been fine.

My daughter had such a good time at the Sandcastle Club last year that she not only wanted to stay longer when I came to pick her up, but wanted to return the next day. She was 8 at the time.

There are a variety of activities--as the DawnCT noted, including arts and crafts.

I believe the cost was $8/hour, but I am not sure if it included the meal (typical kid's menu fare--chicken nuggets, mac&cheese, etc).

I found the staff to be very personable and thought their interaction with the children was very good.

In Jan. at AKL, the fee was $8 per hour but as long as the kids were there by 6 or 7 pm (i forget which) the meal was included. Heck, you can't feed your kid at WDW for $8 a meal. So it was like getting the first hour free. My kids loved Simba's. The wanted to go back time and again. Also, the served a mickey ice cream bar at 9 pm (cost included)

I know you were specifically asking about Sandcastle club but I thought the rates would apply to both.

My DD (8) has been to the Sandcastle Club MANY times and she loves it there. There are games, craft, toys and a movie later in the evening. She also loves being able to choose dinner and eat it there. The CMs are excellent. It is definitely a great place for a kid to spend an evening while the grown-ups go out for a bit. :D

Thank you all so much!
now, the task at hand... getting my SIL to let us take the little guy on a plane!
anyone have any suggestions for that! LOL! :)
