We're getting ready to launch our ratings database. You'll be able to rate everything that can be rated :) So, when focusing on theme parks, what items would you rate? Our rating scale is 1 to 5 (1 being Poor - 5 being Excellent). We're going to do individual attractions at each park, so what I'm looking for right now is general rating items for the theme parks (how would you rate the cast members, how "Kid Friendly" is the park, etc). Any ideas??

What a great idea!!

I'd love feedback on "quality of life" topics.

For example:

For each resort I'd ask:

Transportation: Was it reliable and dependable?

How would you rank the availability of pool chairs?

How would you rank Housekeeping?

How would you rank the ease of getting from your room to the main lobby?

How are the coin operated Laundry facilities?

How would you rank the food/resturant selection for xxx resort?

I hope this helps. We like staying on-site and these types of questions would be very helpful in selecting a resort.

Thanks,

For the resorts I'd like to see a ranking for "Theming" (ie, the hot spring at Wilderness Lodge), and for "Things to Do" (like special events at the resort".

Theme park general rating items that I come up with include:

1. Cleanliness;
2. Layout (easy to map out and get your bearings; e.g. for me, MGM is awful and MK is perfect);
3. Entry queing area;
4. Food service and offerings;
5. You had "kid friendly," how 'bout "senior friendly";
6. Ease of getting from parking lot to theme park;
7. Availability of (and ease to find) restrooms and baby care centers;
8. Drinking water fountains;
9. Enough places to sit down to chill for a few minutes;
10. Parade route;
11. Strollers, wheelchairs, and motorized chairs (availability, condition, rental price);
12. First aid stations.

There's a start. This is a great idea and I look forward to participating in the ratings.

For the parks, I'd like to see a rating of crowd size broken down by morning hours or afternoon hours, for both EMH days and non-EMH days

Also Character sightings, counter service restaurants (for quality of food as well as quickness of service), and restful, overlooked, out-of-the way places for a quick break.

Thrill/scare factor or some type of "age-appropriateness" rating for the attractions.

Great idea!

Theme park attraction ratings:

Comfort of attraction vehicle and/or seating area
Ease of loading / unloading from attraction
Comfortable wait queue (in sun, air conditioning etc.)
Noise level
Fright level
age level appeal (break down between kids, adults, seniors)

Theme Park:

Afternoon parade
Evening Parade
Ease of Navigation
Available information about current shows, attraction wait times
Enough rest rooms
Enough family rest rooms
shopping variety
fast food variety
sit down dining variety
cost of snacks (pop corn, ice cream, etc.)

I'd like to see food/restaurant ratings:D

Be sure to include accessiblity for wheelchairs. You might want to even include which rides wheelchairs are allowed and which ones you have to leave the chair.

for theme parks i would rate

1) how clean
2) sit-down restaurants
3) counter service
4) wait times (individual rides)
5) also how much walking btw attractions, ect

You have some great ideas on what should be rated already. My suggestion would be to try and get more people to offer their ratings of these events.

The times that I have checked ratings of restaurants, although informative, have shown that very few people have offered to rate the places they ate. The more folks that rate the more even keeled the rating system would be.

There are 55,000 members on the DIS that must represent 100,000's of individual visits to the world. That input could make one heck of a data base (and headache). It seems that there is a need to make folks more aware that their input is important for this rating system.

I would also like to see a rating of desserts!!!:bounce:

just bumping back to the top for you..

and I have a couple more thoughts...

Rate the park for best type of weather to tour the park.. (cloudy, rain, sun, hot/humid etc.)
Does the park have adequate shaded rest areas
Are water fountains easy to find?
Taste of the water and coke products (we NEVER buy soda at the MK..too much sulfer taste/smell!)

Rate the hard ticket events - night of joy, mnsshp, mvmcp..break ratings by appeal to different age groups.

I would like to see a rating on:
How responsive to complaints they are? This would be appropriate for all areas such as restaurants,resorts,parks,etc. I think it would be helpful to know how easy/difficult it is to remedy a problem.

When rating attractions I'd like to see the ratings broken down by age group (young children, teens, adults, seniors, etc.).

Recently DW and I (mid 30s) went on POC. I remember as both a child and a teen that I loved this ride (and was a little scared). Last year both DW and I found it boring and the technology outdated (I know I'll get flamed for this:rolleyes: ).

Letting us know the appeal of each attraction by age group can help prioritize what we do and when we do it.

Great idea and thanks for all the hard work.

Regarding the theme park ride ratings:

1. Fat friendly? (not to be offensive, I would check the rating myself).
2. Length of time on ride satisfactory? (Personally I always wanted more time on the test track speedway).
3. Overall quantity of rides satisfactory?-broken into categories (e.g., would a senior feel they had enough rides geared to them to warrant traveling without children?)
4. Rides working and available?
5. Headache or other physical ailment provoked?
6. Hold your hat, glasses,loose dentures or clothing alert?

How about rating the character meals? Number of characters, ratio of characters to diners, venue, food quality, noise level, etc.

By the way, I would like to announce that I am willing to assist the DIS in making any qualitative evaluations at Disney World. All I ask is that you pay for my airfare, hotel, and a small stipend for meals. I would be more than happy to provide you with detailed ratings on just about anything. Oh, the sacrifices I would be making.;)
