I posted in another post about it being my grandmother's 80th birthday party. I am going to make a slideshow of her life. I've got pictures from when she was young up until the present. I've gotten other family members to send me pictures. All of the pictures have my grandmother in them. I need some music to put with the show. So far I'm going to use a Glenn Miller song, "Remember When" by Alan Jackson (I'm going to edit the first part of the song out), and a song called "You Are Loved". It's from the Touched by An Angel soundtrack. Anyway, I need a few more. I want slower songs. Can anyone help me?

How about finding some music from when your grandmother was growing up... maybe big band, swing. There is also a song called "Times of your Life" by Paul Anka or Neil Sedaka. It was used for a Kodak commercial back in the late 1980's. I'm sure you would recognize it. I used it at my wedding for my DH to dance with his mom. Anyhow, I'm sure the folks here at Dis will come up with great suggestions.... Best of luck with your project.......P

Best wishes for your project and for your grandmother. :)

I don't know if this will interest you at all, but thought I'd offer it up just in case.

The following song is by Twila Paris. She's a Christian singer/songwriter. It's a slow song, and lovely IMHO.

SAME GIRL - 1987

Picture with me if you can
A little girl in a younger land
Running, playing, laughing
Growing stronger
Now the aging limbs have failed
And the rosy cheeks are paled
Look behind the lines till you remember

She’s still the same girl
Flying down the hill
She’s still the same girl
Memories vivid still
Listen to her story
And her eyes will glow
She’s still the same girl
And she needs you so

Picture with me if you will
A long white dress and a wedding veil
Two young dreamers pledge their love together
Now her lifelong friend is gone
And she spends her days alone
Look behind the lines till you remember

She’s still the same girl
Walking down the aisle
She’s still the same girl
With the shining smile
Listen to her story
And her eyes will glow
She’s still the same girl
Same girl

She’s still the same girl
Wiser for the years
She’s still the same girl
Stronger for the tears
Listen to her story
And your heart will glow
She’s still the same girl
And we need her so
She’s still the same girl
And she needs you so

Wow. What are you doing?? Trying to make me cry? I really like Twila Paris. I LOVE the song, and it is really really really my grandma. I'll see if I can find it! Thanks.

Sorry, wasn't trying to bring tears. Just trying to be helpful. :) I like Twila too.

Here are a couple links for you:

Amazon.com - Twila Paris - Same Girl

eBay - Twila Paris - Same Girl

Same Girl is an older album and I'm not sure if the title song is on any Greatest Hits albums or various artist albums or not, but perhaps you may find it at a Christian bookstore if it's in print at all.

If you really want the song and can't find it anywhere, I'd be willing to burn it from my LP onto a CD for you and send it if you'll PM an address.

It's a very good song. The words are just perfect. Thanks. I'm going to PM you.

You're welcome.

We get good quality burns with our CD recorder, but it will be recorded from a record, if that's okay. I don't recall that LP of mine having any skips, etc., but it's been awhile since I've played that album.

I'll give it a spin sometime today just to make sure the quality IMO will be good enough. I'll look for your PM and get back with sometime tomorrow on it, 'kay? :)

What a wonderful idea! I am not familiar with that song but the words are beautiful--

Wow! Good luck with that project! Maybe you could try the song "Time". Either version is nice..but try to get Tori Amos' version. The song itself is really beautiful. You could try it as an ending to the slideshow.

Once again, Good Luck! :wave2:

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried to find both songs Times of Your Life and Time but I couldn't find them to listen to pieces of them.

Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" is always very moving but don't know if the ukelele sound fits well with the photos you're using. It really is beautiful to listen to though.

I've thought about using Somewhere Over The Rainbow. I've never heard that version. I'll have to see if I can find it somewhere online to listen to.

Did you ever watch the show "ER"? It's the music they played at the end of the episode where Mark Green dies. I suggested this version as I knew your older relatives would recognize the song and thought the younger relatives would probably appreciate something more contemporary.
