I need some help with getting information

Little backround, My ds is now in Germany with the Army waiting to go to Iraq with his unit. I would like some basic information about phones and what he really needs etc. I have been members of moms army groups and to be honest they just overwhelm me. Its 1000's of posts about the weather and just to say hello and things like that. I need to find someplace that I can get information from that I don't have to spend hours scanning through posts about things I don't need. I love the dis format because I can come and go and get just what I need and give people what they need. Is there a place out there like this??? I have tried army sites but its more for families moving over, not moms trying to help from home. Thanks for any help you can give me!!!

When my brother was stationed in Afghanistan, Bagram AFB had a website where families could find out what was going on there. There was a monthly newsletter and detail about all the units stationed over there. They included a list of things the soldiers really needed. There were also pictures posted and I saw one of my brother. Maybe there is something similar for Iraq.

My best friend's DH is in Kuwait waiting to be stationed in Mosul, Iraq. He said the weather there is cool and windy. There is alot of sand. He seems to have access right now to phones and internet on a regular basis. Hope that continues.

I don't know anything about this. When I was sending care packages I often included a prepaid phone card.

I think I can help as my DH is currently in the "big sandbox" I started to type my response and then realized it was getting pretty long and has a pretty limited audience-I do know of one other DISer who's DH is getting ready to deploy-anyway-i will send a PM with what I know.
