Last year we cut down a huge pine tree that was right in front of our house. It was there when we bought the house 7 years ago and it got too big, it blocked the view from our front window.

Anyway, in the area that the tree was in, I also have some day lilies planted (that were surrounding the pine tree). At the other end of the house are 2 tall bushes and 2 rhododendrons, hedges under the deck. Now, I need to find something else to plant in the middle of the daylilies to replace the pine tree. I want something colorful since everything else is green except for the rhododendrons. I don't want anything that will get too big.

Any suggestions?

Are you looking for a tree or shrub? Or are you looking for something herbaceous? What zone are you in?

I live in PA. I don't really care if it's a tree or shrub as long as it's something that won't grow higher than approx 12 ft. I just want something colorful.

What about a weeping cherry? My parents have one that's about 12ft high and it's gorgeous!

I love weeping cherry trees! How high do they grow?

My parents have a dwarf. It's 17 or 18yrs old and 12ft high
