Okay, I need to know if I was imagining this part of the Indiana Jones ride or if it is real. Each time I rode on our previous two visits, I remember the distinct impression that one of the effects of the ride was to make it seem that the ceiling was closing in on us. I think it was somewhere in the second half of the ride, but I don't know which part exactly. My dh never noticed it and doesn't know what I'm talking about. And maybe you don't either - I could be imagining it completely!

I just remember each ride that there was spot where, through special lighting or however, it gave the illusion - for just a second - that the ceiling was *right* above our heads. I gave a little surprised shriek each time. And ducked. Which is embarassing if I'm totally imagining the whole thing. :)

So, am I just crazy?

I wonder if I could use this as a valid reason to give my dh that we need to make another trip sooner than planned - I have to make sure I'm not losing my mind!! Hmmm... ;)

There isn't really a part where the ceiling is coming down on you. However, there is one effect where there is a "smoke screen" with an image of a branch projected on it. It can be very realistic and I've seen many people duck as the vehicle approaches, but you just go right through it. It is a similar effect to the Davy Jones smoke screen on POTC.

When the ball comes rolling towards me always makes me duck. Otherwise O can't think of a ceiling drop, but check out youtube to find a ride through and see if you find what you remember.

I think that may be what I remember. I didn't have the impression of an actual ceiling lowering, but just a fleeting scare that my head was going to hit something. And it was smoky, too. Thanks!! I hate not being able to pinpoint a feeling or memory.

And that was a good hint, too, Faircat, about checking youtube. My kids and I love to get our DL fix every once in a while by watching a bunch of the rides on youtube. There are some really well done videos there. I know if I tried to capture a ride on video, it would NOT be fun or easy to watch! :headache:

Yeah like a previous poster said, i think you are remembering the smoke screen part, i thought it was cobwebs.

As said before, it was probably the the smoky projection of the low ceiling that you drive through that has rats running over it, but if not, when you are waiting in line and you pull the bamboo that says do not pull, the ceiling drops a few inches and usually freaks people out :-)

There's also the part in the queue line with the bamboo pole. If you shake the pole, the ceiling actually does come down a few inches, like the scene in one of the Indy movies. This effect sometimes works, depends on if it has reset or not usually.

The Rats, everyone ducks.

I hope I get to see the bamboo trick on our next trip. Every time we've been, it wasn't working. I love the queue for that ride, though. It's so detailed and fun.

Rats, huh? I'll have to pay more attention to that part next time. There is just so much to see and notice. At least I know there is a reason I keep ducking!

Thanks!

I hope you're not losing it but I can't remember a ceiling coming down. A terrific ride nonetheless, this should be your excuse to get back there.

I seem to remember reading about a special effect related to going across the bridge, but did not see or feel anything when crossing it? Did I dream reading about this? :)

I've heard about the ceiling coming down. I've never seen it, though, even when pulling on the bamboo & hearing the sound. What a cool effect that must be.

When you go across the bridge, there's a light beam that shines from the rock Mara's eye. It looks like it hits the bridge beam, and the bridge looks like it's going to collapse, but then you speed right through into the snake room.
