We're on the DP.
Here's what I've got.
Whispering Canyon (Dinner)
Narcossee's (Dinner)
Cape May (Breakfast)
Askerhaus (Dinner)
Captain's Grille (Dinner)

I have room for one more meal. We're thinking dinner. Our best option would be MK & surrounding resorts or HS (depending on which evening we go with).

I really want to do O'Hana but no availability.

Any recommendations?

We went to Crystal Palace on our last trip and it was wonderful. I have also heard rave reviews of Sci-Fi Diner in HS. Hope you have a great trip.

I would use the TS for a dinner too... if you are paying for some meals (not using DDP) breakfast and lunch will be less expensive.

I recommend Mama Melrose if you want to stay in Hollywood Studios... On average, the restaurants at HS do not get consistently good reviews... Sci Fi and Hollywood Vine especially get bad reviews of food quality. If you have park hoppers, Epcot is not too far away (boat ride)... I'd prefer one of the restaurants there. We really liked Restaurant Marrakesh (belly dancing and music and great food) but we also still want to go to Biergarten (german music and food).

At or around Magic Kingdom, Liberty Tree Tavern has very good food and a convenient location. I'd keep trying for Ohana -- great place for big appetites and the Polynesian Resort's lobby and beach are nice for an evening walk after dinner. It is tough to get ADRs there.... but not impossible if you keep calling/checking.

Also, if you're counting credits, I guess you know Narcoosees charges 2 meal credits, not 1...

We ate at The Wave, in the Contemporary, FABULOUS meal, very cool decor! :thumbsup2

I would recommend Grand Floridan Cafe, we had a nice evening meal there last August or Crystal Palace in MK:thumbsup2

Try Chef Mickey's in the Contemporary if you want a character meal, or maybe California Grille, although that is two TS credits, so if you are on the dining plan that doesn't work.

You can get the Fantasmic dinner package with Mama Melrose in DHS, and they have pretty good Italian.

Or you can keep checking for available seats at 'Ohana.

We had a good meal at Mama Melrose in HS if you're in the mood for pasta. Grand Floridian Cafe is another good choice if you you don't want character meal.

I love Crystal Palace breakfast It's my favorite! I see you're staying at AKL, you could do breakfast at Boma. We've done both dinner and BF there. I like BF better.

With kids 9 and 5 years old, Chef Mickey's. Hands down.

Ed. Sorry about the kid ages. That's what you get for reading too many posts. LOL

I would keep trying for Ohana, but if that doesn't work out, Kona at the Poly is a favorite of ours :). We also love Chef Mickey's :goodvibes.

I would keep checking for Ohana's. By far my family's favorite so far. But if not we also greatly enjoyed the Wave

Around MK, Crystal Palace is great. We went there twice last spring - once with a reservation and once on a walk-in (about 20 min. at 1:30 p.m.). Our 6-year-old son loved the food from the kids' bar and was OK with the characters (Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, Piglet).

Ohana was outstanding. We went there for the character breakfast and that was the one my son enjoyed the most (Lilo, Stitch, Mickey, Goofy). As a matter of fact, I just made a reservation there last night for our next trip.

At HS, we love The Hollywood Brown Derby. It may have been the best food we had during our entire stay.

Thanks for all the recommendations; they're helpful.

Crystal Palace won't work while we're there. Closed for refurb.
No Fantasmic show the night we are going to be at DHS.
I was able to get an ADR for Chef Mickey's but we don't want to overkill the Character meal (already doing Breakfast at Cape May and Princess Story book at Askerhaus).

Still going to try and get O'Hana. Has anybody ever struck out on getting an ADR but tried doing walk-up and still get in?

Hi,

We went to Disney last April and got into O'hana's on a walk up. I had been trying for weeks and weeks to get a reservation but no success. We got to the Poly around 5pm and I walked up to the O'hana podium and asked if there was room for a walk up for a part of 11. They said no problem, give us 5 minutes and before I knew it, we were in! They lady in front of me in the check in line also did not have a reservation but she was told that for her smaller party size there would be about a 40-45 minute wait. I'm not sure if this normally happens or if we just got lucky but good luck, it is well worth it so I hope you get in!

Keep trying for Ohana - the food is great and it has a really fun atmosphere. If you do get a reservation ask for a table by the window - the veiws are great!

The dinner buffet at Crystal Palace is very good. :thumbsup2

For HS, I'd do Sci-Fi or 50's PT. :goodvibes

I thought I read somewhere on here that O'Hana is much easier to get in if you're with larger parties. I guess your story kind of confirms that.

You might consider the south african buffet at AKL. Several podcasts recommended it. We were surprised by the size of the buffet. There we so many interesting choices. Another plus is that it's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, which has a great environment/theme for visiting.
After dinner we walked around to a spot to the left of the pool and found cast members with night vision goggles for guests to use to take a look at the animals in the darkness. very cool.
