We are going to WDW in March, going to use ME. Could we just not put the tags on our bags and carry them to the bus are self?? Just don't like the Idea of waiting for your bags after you have arrived at resort? THANKS. 49 days left and counting.....

Yes, you're welcome to pick up your own luggage, as long as you don't apply the yellow DME tags before checking your bags at your home airport. If you do put the DME tags on, your luggage will never appear on the luggage carousel at the airport - DME pulls all such tagged bags behind the scenes, before any luggage is made available to the Guests.
Also, please keep in mind that while Disney covers the tips for any DME-transported luggage, if you pick up your own bags it's the Guest's responsibility to tip anybody who handles it - including, but not limited to, the DME driver and anybody at your resort who handles it.

Absolutely, you can get your own bags and get them to the bus (tagless, of course). Just keep in mind that you don't HAVE to sit in your room and wait for your bags -- that would be a dreadful waste of time. The bags "magically appear" in your room whether you're there or not. Take whatever you need immediately in your carry-on (you should do this anyway just in case the airline delays your luggage). Now of course, if you're the type who'd going to worry about the luggage and not be able to relax until you see it, then leaving the tags off the bags and getting them yourself seems like the best way FOR YOU to start your magical vacation. Me, I loved feeling like I was being treated like a VIP and not having to lug my luggage around and have my servants deliver it to me.
