DW and I got married in late November 1980. We spent our honeymoon at CR. Without her knowledge, I am planning a surprise 25th anniversary at... CR. While we have been to WDW multiple times with our 2 kids since then, this would be our 1st solo trip. I am thinking that 4 days would be enough for just the 2 of us (1 day for MK and MGM, 1/2 day AK and 1 1/2 days EC (her favorite)).

1. I need help coming up with ways to make the trip affordable.
2. I also need ways to convince her that it is okay for 2 grown adults to go to WDW without their kids (DD20 and DS17 at time of travel). When I mentioned that it would be nice for us to get away, all I heard was what about "the son." "We can't go on vacation and leave him at home."

Any ideas?

TIA!

Hi there, I'm in York, where it's snowing right now so I have to console myself by thinking about FL.

I'm assuming that you are looking to go in Nov. If at all possible, avoid the time around Thanksgiving, if only from the price of air perspective. HIA just increased their flights to FL with Transmeridian Airlines, right now it's pricing at $79 each way. Not the best, but certainly not bad! Plus I think that someone told me that HIA doesn't charge for parking? You fly into Sanford Airport instead of Orlando Intl, but a friend of mine who lives in Orlando and returns home to York frequently says that she prefers Sanford (less congested) and TMA is great! I'm considering it for my May trip (BWI is such a hassle!).

As far as hotels, I'm assuming that you are going to try CR again? Just keep watching for codes. I'm not sure when the codes for November were released last year. Check out www.mousesavers.com, I think Mary lists historical codes there. While you are there check out her other tips, she has a top notch site!

And you've got the first thing covered....keep watching these boards. You will find some of the smartest, friendliest people here on the Dis with all kinds of advice to make it the best trip possible. Congratulations on your anniversary!

PS-If it's a surprise, work out arrangements for your son that you know she would agree to and make them (staying at a friends?). Then include that with the surprise so that she can't argue that point.

Best of luck!

That is so sweet... maybe I should have my DH read this, so he can surprise me one day.

I agree with minnie1928 make arrangements for DS with friends or family, so she will feel ok with that.

As for making for making things affordable, make sure you visit the transporation board. They have been very helpful with me getting great airfare and rental car rates.

I would also keep checking here and mousesavers for codes. I usually find out here when they'll be released and then check mousesavers for the actual code itself.

Goodluck on your surprise.
