walking shoe with a good archsupport. I have looked on justforfeet.com and they didn't have anything that great on sale. what other sights can I check out? I am up for either a sneaker or something similiar. I have checked out Merrills, has anyone had any experience with these? I don't like Rockports, they hurt my feet too much.
I am open to any and all suggestions.

I already have some Good sandals, so thats not a problem. I have Teva's and Nike Straprunners.

They come in a wide variety of "configurations" for walking, running, etc. They are an "athletic shoe" with excellent arch and heel support.

I used to have a shoe made by Reebok that was specifically made just for walking. That was about 4 years ago - so not sure if they still make them , but they sure were comfortable :)

Have you ever tried Spenco insoles? I wear a 9.5 A in a dress shoe so you can imagine what I go through with a walking shoe. These insoles are wonderful. Great arch support. I can wear just about any brand of walking shoe and not have problems. Currently I am wearing Etonic walking shoes. They cost under $20 for the pair.

I'm not sure which board it is on, but alot of dis'ers recommend the Nike Straprunner. You may want to check it out! (I have been looking everywhere for this shoe!!!)

I had said in the post that I already have the nike straprunner. I have the sandals thats the best part, but I still need a good walking shoe. Spencos aren't good for a broken arch. The Dr had me go to this place that has these arch supports and insoles, etc. they were good but extremely expensive. If I am going to spend this much money on something I would rather get the whole shoe! Unfortunately the insurance won't pay for the insole that I need.

I tried on every brand of sneaker in the store, and New Balance was the most comfortable to me.

I work on a concrete floor all day....walking quite a bit and I LOVE New Balance shoes...I have only bought the lower priced ones, and they are still VERY comfy!

I agree with everyone else, New Balance.
My podiatrist said they are the best shoes for arch support. She didn't suggest any particular style, she said all of the New Balance are good. But I was able to find a pair that are all white and I wear them to work. Very comfortable, my feet are happy.

Ok, it seems like new balance is the winner ehre, now where do I get them at a good price? LOL!

Do you have a specialty running store in your area? I had to buy shoes for the Avon Breast Cancer walk last year and they sent me to one of these stores. Those guys were great! I have a high arch and wound up with a pair of Nike running shoes. Now these are the ONLY Nikes I can wear, but they work great. My second choice there was a pair of New Balance, but the Nike's had more overall support for me.

I was just diagnosed with having plantar fasciitis and had to get custom orthotics and was told at the shoe store to try the New Balance. I've had mine for 2 weeks now and they are simply wonderful! I got the plain white walking shoe. Hope everyones' information has helped you choose.:)

You might also try Easy Spirit . That is what I have been wearing for the last 5 years.
I work retail and am constantly running around at work.
I do work with a girl that also swears by the New Balance. But Easy Spirit work GREAT for me!! They run about the same price.
I have tried Nike...and they just don't fit me right no matter what style I try.

Good Luck!!! ;)

I bought 2 pairs of Easy Spirits, but the second pair were not as comfortable as the first.:( So, I switched to NEW BALANCE 328! They are the BEST! I love them, and have had them since Dec.!;)

with a Pedorthist (someone specially trained in the mechanics of the foot and how to deal with its problems) on staff. I have one right near work. They are very helpful. I've had plantar faciitis now for a couple years or more. They recommended (for anyone--not just someone with plantar faciitis) firm foot bed, good arch support, metatarsal support, good heel alignment and "anti-pronation". The New Balance seems to have most of this.

Sometimes in my New Balance and always in the Clarks I wear to work, I use a non-custom orthotic type insert made by Tacco that accomplishes much of the above.

Then, when I am at home, I wear Hafflinger theraputic clogs. They're GREAT :D

OK, OK, way more than you ever wanted to know about MY feet;) , but you can always pick out what is useful and informative for you and discard the rest :)

we have a walking store near us, so I will go there and try on a few pairs of shoes. They have helped me for work shoes, so I am sure they should have some kind of sneakers.

Easy spirits are not good shoes, they are made by the same company that makes 9 west shoes!

I've actually had East Spirit shoes for the past 2 years, up until I got my New Balance and I can honestly say I like the New Balance better.:)

Let us know what you get!;)
