We are going to DW in Nov (Nov 29 to Dec 6). We are staying 7 nights but have passes for 5 days. Is it worth getting the dining plan still? This is our first time (and probably our only as we live in Japan). Please help. :confused3

Hello, we are doing the plan, as my husband is a big eater and we like to eat at a sit down resturaunt each day to relax. For $35 a day it is worth it for us, we had a DD who is 5, we plan to split lunch with her (she and I) and a breakfast. So that gave us lunch and breakfast with her and my cs credits, then depending on the place we are eating dinner we may pay out of pocket for her meal, so we will have 2 extra credits to use at the yatchsman. I figure it is more than I usually will eat with the Appetizer and dessert, but it is vacation and I am splitting my lunchs. It just is whatever works for your families. If your kids are old enough to be charged as adults but dont eat like one the plan my not be for you. Good luck and have a good trip!

It really depends on how much you want to or can eat. You have to remember that the portions are really big compared to what they serve in Japan. Think double the size.

Can you use the plan for breakfast as well. I thought it was for only lunch and dinner.

You can use your CS credits for either breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

Most TS, except character breakfast buffets, are for lunch or dinner.

You need to decide soon as that is a busy time and ADRs may be difficult to come by.

Thanks. I know I have to decide but it is so hard to know. Also, with my 18month old, can I split his meals with me or do I have to order his own? How is DW about meal sharing?

2 year old children and under do not require a dining plan be purchased for them; you may share your own with them or they can get their own plate at buffets, I think.

Which is better; using my TS credits for the Character dining or paying or the Character dining?

I would always recommend doing the dining plan. It will definately be a lot of food (we had 3 CS meals leftover!) but we also got to eat in some unique environments and had some incredible meals that we never would have otherwise. Just make sure you don't waste any of the table service meals- that's what makes the plan worthwhile. I highly recommend Le Cellier in Epcot and for a fun evening with pretty good food, go to 50's Prime Time Cafe at MGM.

Le Cellier is already on my list thanks. Being Canadian and living in Japan, I usually jump at the chance of taste of home.

It depends on what other kind of food you're interested in. If you're looking for a nice steak dinner, save a TS for that! For my DH and I alone to eat dinner at Le Cellier, the bill came to $115! Most people I think would encourage paying out of pocket for buffet character meals as you know going in the price will be around $20 per adult. Most dinners at Disney will run you more than that. Having said that though, we did hit 2 character meals and even though the food wasn't as good it sure was fun.

We will be at DW for 10 nights and have added the dining plan on to our package as well. We will only be at the parks for 4 of those 10 days though. We are going to spend a few days shopping, going to Seaworld, Universal, etc. It is still a good plan for us because we will use CS credits for breakfast on those days we have something planned outside of DW and then at the end of the day, we will still use our TS credits at a DW restaurant.

I have a 2 1/2 year old DD and we also do not have to pay for her for the dining plan. At buffets you can get her her own little plate. What I normally did last year was put extra food on my plate for her and then just cut it up for her on her own plate.

At sit down meals, if you do order anything special for your child, you will have to pay for that yourself. If your child will be sharing your meal, just ask the server/waiter to bring you an extra plate etc. and it shouldn't be a problem.

Yes, if I were you, I would use the TS credits for any character meals that you want to go to. We will be using TS credits for Cinderella's Royal Table, Liberty Tree Tavern, and 1900 Park Fare.

Hope this helps.

Another quick question, is there any way to make ADR via the internet? I have searched the DW site but can't find any info. I would really rather not have to call as Japan is 13 hours ahead of Florida.

Right now it is not possible to make ADR's via the internet. I have heard rumors that they would like to move in that direction in the future, but I hear there are technical hurdles in the way of successful implementation.

I would call first to see if you can add the dining plan, as you live out of country. The British people that we spoke to said that they tried to add the dining package, but it wasn't available to them. Sounded pretty odd to me.

Thanks to everyone who answered. I really appreciate all the help. I finally booked everything (with the meal plan). I am sure it will be worth it. Thanks again. I can't wait!! My 3 year old son keeps stealing my computer to look at "The Mouse's Home".

From all my research (six months' worth :badpc: ) there has been nothing that said that guests from overseas can't use the dining plan. I had no problems when I booked my package yesterday. Here is a good website for UK visitors (I use it for the great maps). Hope that helps.
