I need help. Has anyone made Wall Letters --to put their kids name on their wall?

You know, the wooden letters? I bought the letters to spell my son's name, Logan. His bedroom is decorated in Mickey (that doesn't surprise anyone here does it?) I bought red, yellow, black and white paint. I want to do some thing more than just paint each letter a solid color. Any suggestions?

maybe paint each letter black with polka dots of red, yellow, white?
stripes? one of each?

If anyone has made a wall name, I'd love to see photos.

I did this with my son's name except I used things he likes. He is a huge Star Wars fan so one one letter I cut out pictures from a SW magazine that he has a pasted it on there-kind of like a collage. I also used a baseball theme, 4 wheeler/bike theme, bugs, spaceships, and monkey themes for each letter. I know you want to do just Mickey so I suggest going to a scrapbook store and looking at what they have like papers, stickers, stamps, ect with Mickey on it. I didn't paint any of his letters I used scrapbook paper. I am going to do my daughters name next and hers will consist of ribbons, buttoms, feathers, LOTS of girly things. It was fun to do.

I do these as baby shower gifts, and I also did them for my dorm room, and my roommates, and several neighbors... I attatchs a ribbon (with pattern )to the back for hanging, paint them a solid color, and use wooden shapes purshased from micheals or acmoore ( small 10 cent ones ) to give definition. i'll take a picture and try to post it.

WOW! Thanks. Those looked great. I think paper is the way to go! I couldn't do anything like that by painting, put I can handle paper.

I've made them for several things. My dd has them in her room. I'm supposed to be making them for a friend who adopted twin girls from China. Use modge podge, paint, and patterned paper. It is fun to add embellies and stuff as well.

I've been shopping for Mickey Mouse scrapbook paper and I have only found one sheet that I really like. I was surprised that I couldn't find any patterned paper in red, yellow, black. I have checked Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and our locally owned scrapbook store. I'm going to WDW next week, I hope that I'll find some I like there.

If anyone has photos of your creations, I'd love to see them. I'm not so good at coming up with an idea, but I'm great at copying!!

AC moore has some. The have many mickey, princess, and pixar themed paper to choose from.

I bought wood letters for my DD2's room. I did 4 different words 'dream' (above her bed), 'smile', 'laugh', and 'love'. 2 words I used modge-podge to apply scapbook paper. 1 word I painted brown, put modge-podge on top to make it glossy, then I attached little rinestones along the bottom of each letter. 1 word I painted green, then applied glitter with modge-podge, then another coat of modge-podge to ensure the glitter would stay in place. It was a lot of fun.

Another option is to do the wall lettering with vinyl. There are several places on the web that sell this but I like using www.urbanlettering.blogspot.com for this stuff. most of my friends seem afraid that it won't come off but surprisingly the lettering comes right off even years down the road. At least that has been my experience.
