Morning,

I am planning to go to Universal studios with my two daughters aged 18 and 20 in the spring. The 20 year old has Down syndrome and has a hard time standing and waiting in line. And to top it off I have Rhuematoid Arthritis and can't walk far without resting often. Can anybody give me any tips on how Universal studios is with people with disabilites? Any good books to reccommend for tips and ideas. Any and all tips and ideas are most welcome. This will be our first time visting and definately first thing we are going to see is Harry Potter. Thanks much Kris

Universal theme parks are fully ADA compliant.

Harry Potter is an EXTREMELY intense ride. If your Down syndrome daughter has successfully ridden roller coaster type rides in the past, ok. If not, this is NOT the ride to try it our for her.

Just wanted to share a personal experience. My brother has cerebral palsy, diagnosed as MR (man I hate that term :( but that's his official diagnosis so wanted to share) along with some other disabilities that I am not going to get into here. He can walk for short amounts of time so he requires a special chair, it's kind of an adapted stroller for larger people. All lines are easy with the chair and some lines offer a wheelchair line (which is nice!). He doesn't react well to large crowds pressing in around him, so we were able to use the wheelchair access and wait in the baby swap room. He LOVES rides, and is able to handle most everything. He hates getting off! That's the hard part. He hasn't been in quite a few years, so hasn't experienced Harry Potter. If your daughter has experienced rides before, I imagine she will love it!
I hope I didn't offend in anyway, I just wanted to share a personal story in hopes that it may help you

I would try to stay at a hotel on site so that you get the front of the line access and wont' have to wait as long. We've never been there in October so not sure what the crowds are like but you could shorten all of your wait times by staying onsite. Also, if you are early risers you get in the parks an hour earlier than the public and you could get a jump on any crowds coming in. There are benches through the parks you can rest on and the seating at the shows is comfortable so hit the shows to rest too.
