I need budget friendly wrapping ideas

FOr my family's xmas party we do a gift swap. i need help figuring out how to wrap my two (budget friendly) gifts.

The first gift is a collection of chocolates, a Swiss colony mouse, a large chocolate bar, small bars and lindt chocolate.

The second gift is all courtsey of CVS'ing. I have an assortment of razors, soap, toothpaste, dish soap, hand lotions, etc. I am trying to think of something useful, such as a tote or something.

I'd hit up the dollar store and buy a couple of gift bags and package of tissue paper.

This probably won't help you, but we use comics and/or brown paper grocery bags that we decorate with markers, ribbons, bows, and stickers. The brown paper actually looks very nice when all the presents are wrapped that way - it looks very natural.

Put the CVS stuff in one of those CVS reusable cloth shopping bags. You could even include one of the Green Bag tags as the "gift tag". Then the bag becomes part of the gift!

I'd recommend going to the dollar store and getting a nice basket for the other gift. Then wrap it with cellophane and put on a big bow.

Depending on the total size of your chocolate gift you could get a gift box at the Dollar Tree (if there's one near you). They had large and small boxes in the shapes of Santa's workshop and other buildings that were very cute, sturdy, and economical.

You could always use fabric remnants to cover the box or bag. You can buy remnants for very little $$$.

Not really inexpensive, but I got the reusable shopping bags from the Disney Store and that is what I am using for the kids gifts. I hvae a huge stash of gift bags and wrapping paper I have collected over the years that I will use for the adults gifts.

This was along the lines of my suggestion. It's become a running joke among my friends that they can always spot my gift at a birthday party because it's not in wrapping paper or a gift bag! I keep my eye out for fun bags on clearance or at the dollar store and use them. I know my friends like them because I always see them using them.

I found reusable gift bags at Target in the stationary clearance section for 75 cents

For box if needed a cereal box or other type of used box will work then wrap in a towel from sprawlmart an put a bow on it. The towel becomes part of the gift, cloth napkins an such works just as well too.

I was also going to suggest the reusable shopping bags. I actually did that for a number of niece and nephew's presents last year, and the concept was well received. I think last year TJMaxx had some nice bags that donated profits to a children's organization if I recall.

Just a reminder that they sell Shrink Wrap- at the dollar store. I think it makes the gifts look a bit nicer.

And on the CVS things- who is it for? The dollar store has a bunch of rubber totes- But I like that Reusable Bag idea.

I'm not a fan ofthe resuable shopping bags if they are that thin material most of them are. (Not even sure what it is... a step above paper, but they rip easily).

That said, I think encouraging reusing bags is a great idea. Check Christmas Tree Shops- they often have canvas totes for not very much. Cute, cheap and resuable!

My grandmother wrapped everything in white butcher paper and red string, with gift cards that she made from cutting the pictures out of the Christmas cards from the year before.

One year I wrapped everything in old maps. They are colorful and fun to look at when off the package.

For the chocolates I would get a christmas themed chinese take-out style box (you can find them at the $ store or Christmas Tree shops). I would arrange them nicely in the box keeping the top open and them coming out, and then take colored plastic wrap and wrap the whole box and tie it closed with a ribbon.

For the other stuff, I would do an eco-friendly shopping bag. I wouldn't just throw the stuff in there, I would make the tote look like a gift bag.

I use the rolls of brown shipping paper and stamp them with Christmas stamps and tie everything with raffia. Its very inexpensive.

Great ideas here! My other suggestion for budget wrapping is to stock up after the holidays at 70-90%off. I got a bunch of red cellophane and paper shred basket wrapping kits after Valentines last year for .30 each with plans to use them for Christmas this year.
