Ok, I booked the 12/22/07 Eastern Christmas Cruise. I got a quote on the same cabin for the 12/15/07 Western DCL Cruise. It was 1800 dollars cheaper! My dilemna, I don't want to take my kids out of school early. I did it once but my daughter hated missing the school holiday festivities. (she didn't let me forget it either) :rotfl2:

Is cruising during the actual week of christmas really that much more magical? What would you do?

We have crusied in December, but not on Christmas week. We loved it, the ship was decorated, we had a tree lighting ceremony, Christmas music was playing and Mrs. Claus read to the kids in the Atrium. To us it was just as magical as the week of Christmas, but a lot cheaper. I'm sure they do speical stuff Christmas eve and morning but for us it would not of been enough to pay all the extra money. We went the 17th thru the 24th last December and we felt like it was Christmas all week long.
I'm sure others will swear by Christmas week being the best, and for them it is true. Everyone is looking for something different in their December cruises. Just try to figure out what will work best for your families circumstances and go for it.
Good luck with your decision, I'm sure it will take alot of thought.

Tammy, I think that what you said, says it all - you don't want to take your kids out of school early, and your daughter hated missing the school holiday festivities. It sounds like you should go with your initial feelings. That's what I would do. I hope you have a great time no matter what decision you make :goodvibes

Can you please tell me how you booked Dec of '07? I looked on DCL website and they only have date through April of '07. Am I missing something?

ETA: Nevermind, Called and got the dates. Website has not been updated. Thank you.

You need to do an advanced search & enter the dates. :)

I guess I will just keep what I have. I was thinking I might book the week after the cruise at WDW and that would mean NYE (Super busy) but then a few quiet days after that. If I move it up to the 15th, then I would be at Disney for the week of Christmas which is really busy.

But I do appreciate the advice.
