When one door closes, another opens.

Thanks Cathryn!! I believe this also but when the door actually closes in your face. it's hard to keep a positive outlook but I am trying!!
Remember the advice from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy:
DON'T PANIC!!!!
When I lost my job last summer two weeks before a planned (and already paid for) Disney vacation, I had to remind myself of that all the time.
Step one is to apply for your unemployment compensation. It is a lot of paperwork and hassle, but it is something as far as income is concerned.
Step two: someone mentioned it earlier - work your network.
Step three: you have a marketable skill from your accounting experience.
Stay positive - it will work out.
LOL Thanks!! I have been panicking a tiny bit but trying to remain calm and stay positive.
I'm so sorry. Dh and I went through something similar in the recession of the early 80s. We wouldn't work for the same company again. Take a day or two to lick your wounds, but not too long or it can get paralyzing.
Hang in there. Don't be afraid to take something part time if it looks like it has promise to grow. I signed up for a master's program the day I got laid off, and a month later took an 8 hr a week consulting job. It turned into really fascinating well-paid full time work in a couple of months. I loved the job and was busy as all get out with going for the masters, too.
I hope you both find something great quickly.
Thanks!! I think if I don't get any bites from my resume soon, I will be looking for maybe 2 PT jobs. I hate to have to do this but "you gotta do what you gotta do" as they say.
I am so sorry to hear about this Mary Anne. I really hope something opens up for both you very soon.
Thanks so much!!!!
