I need a shoulder to cry on. DH and I both lost our jobs yesterday. UPDATED Page 5

:grouphug:

I hear you. 5 years ago, the company DH & i worked for 25 years went under.
Its really not good for both spouses to work at same company-not at all.
:guilty:

Geez, that's rough. I hope you both find jobs soon. The Timeshare industry is reeling from the credit contraction and isn't likely to rebound any time soon. I'd probably try and get out of that line of work in the short term....

DH and I were laid off 2 months apart 10 years ago. It was the pits. :headache:We had a few very rough years but DH started his own business and we are much happier and even better off financially now (although our savings took a huge hit and we're scrambling to save for retirement now).

 to you and your DH. Hope things work out as well for you as they did for us.

:hug::hug:

I know it's so scary, but do the work of finding jobs through the fear. Hopefully you guys can take turns being outwardly scared...my hubby's the sole provider, and he was given 2 months notice that the department was closing...I kept it together for quite a good amount of time, then once he started feeling more solid as he looked for future employment, I would have mini-fall-aparts...things only coincided once with mutual freakouts...it was a lot nicer when one was strong whlie the other was weak. So hopefully you'll find yourself in that space too. :)

As for your mom...if you have anyone else in the household that might spill the beans, just tell her first. We have a 5 year old, and we'd explained bits of it to him...they went to visit my MIL, all was fine for the whole visit until the end as they got ready to go...she said something about his work (as she always does) and DS piped up with "Papa lost his job!" :headache: She's had 2 heart attacks and is high stress to begin with, which is why we kept it from her, but if we had a choice between telling her in our own way vs what DS said, we would have told her the first day.

So if there's anyone else...just tell mom now.

Best of luck to you! Hubby got down to the wire, got a job offer a week before the dept closed. Went from his last day at the old job, had a weekend, started with the new job.

So sorry. Hang in there. It will get better.

I am so sorry to hear that both you and your DH were laid off yesterday. There are so many of us "laid off" people out there. I was laid off in January and am still looking for a job.

Take care and I hope that something comes your way quickly.

:grouphug:

I am so sorry to hear this, what a hard thing to have happen. Hope things soon go better for you both.

OT Good luck to your boyfriend today Onelilspark

I'm so sorry to hear about your jobs! I'll be thinking of you both.

I'm sorry! Check out Starwood --- I think they are still hiring in Orlando.

Oh, I'm so sorry!! Good luck, I hope you both find something new soon :grouphug:

:hug: Dh and I have both been laid off, but not at the same time. I hope you both find new jobs soon.

Does it feel like a rug has been pulled from under you? Yep, we know that feeling too. Keep your eyes open for opportunities and update your resume. Hang in there, I hope you two find jobs soon.:goodvibes

I'm so sorry to hear you were laid off. If you haven't been through it I don't think you can imagine how it feels. I was laid off from a company I had worked at for almost 20 years and I was devastated. Everyone tells you not to take it personal but it's hard not to. It's bad enough getting laid off, but both of you in one day is horrible. That's just double the stess.

Take a couple days to be sad then take all the good advice the other posters have given you. I hope you both find something soon. :grouphug:

Oh wow! That is a really, really tough situation to be in.. :(

Will both of you be able to collect unemployement at least?

Here's hoping that one - or both of you - find jobs SOON..

Gosh, I'm so sorry. You'd think with timeshares being sold in 50-year increments, there would be some security in that as a vocation.

Keep your chin up and get on the horn and start calling! Make getting a new job your new job!

Can you also try in other industries? What about DVC?
