Here's the deal, I have been planning our upcoming trip for a year now. I have spread sheets that outline where we are at any given minute of any given day. When we get up, when we go to bed. Where we eat, when we need to check in and all our confirmation numbers.

Since the printer needed ink, I hadn't printed everything out yet. DH brought home ink last week, replaced the cartridges and.... the computer said it was unable to communicate with the printer. So, after about an hour of trying different things I decided to turn everything off and restart. That's when I saw all my hard work pass quickly before my eyes. The computer won't reboot.

So last week DH took the computer to the computer doctor. 6 days later the diagnosis came back. Bad hard drive, needs to be replaced, Windows corrupted, needs to be reinstalled... they will TRY and save my data, but no promises.

So here I sit. We leave in 11 days, supposedly we'll get the computer back tomorrow but if all my data is gone I'm up the creek.

Does anyone know, can I call WDW and get the times, dates, and confirmation numbers of my ADR's? Just in case I have to redo everything it would be nice to at least know where I'm scheduled to eat!

If any of you are at WDW from 11/26 til 12/6 and notice this woman walking in circles muttering to herself, say "Hello". It'll be me!

Yes you should be able to call Disney Dining and get all your ressie info.

Don't take this the wrong way, but maybe this is a blessing in disguise for you. Planning every moment of a vacation to WDW can make it very stressful (we know from firsthand experience).

The best trips we have had were spontaneous and unplanned. The magic seems to happen best then. All IMHO. :thumbsup2

I thought the same thing....relax and stop and smell the roses!

MrToad and Bab31...

Believe it or not, planning the vacation is fun for me. It is the way I spend the 11 1/2 months until the next time we go! DH and I go once a year about the same time. Making the schedule, along with all the info we need such as confirmation numbers, is a way to help pass the time till we get to go again. But, my schedules are not written in stone. If we feel like doing something different than what is on the schedule, we do.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, but we do relax, stop and smell the roses. My stress right now is my not having all the confirmation numbers I may need in case of a problem. I will call Disney Dinning tomorrow if the computer doc couldn't save my data.

Pardon my whining. Sometimes you just need a "Poor Baby" before you pull yourself up and get back to dealing with the problem.

Thanks again for the tip of calling DD!

That stinks :badpc: ... Maybe there's a bit of Disney magic left in that puter and you'll get your files back. :wizard:

Careens.... Thank you! I really needed someone to bash a computer for me! I'm really hoping all the Disney magic and pixie dust comes through for me!

DISshopkeeper.... YES! It did help! :) Sometimes there is nothing quite so good as a heartfelt "Poor Baby".

And yes, I do like cheese with my whine! :lmao:

If your staying on-site the front desk will print out all your ADR's for you...that is if their computers are up :-)

Oh i forgot ...Poor baby, Have a magical trip :wizard:

WDWboy... Really???? That is great news! I have reservations for things like Candlelight Processional, Fireworks cruise, Safari Celebration, and regular ADR's. That is great if the front desk can print that out for me. We are staying at CBR. Thank you! I may actually get some sleep tonight!

Yes you can call and get your #'s, you can also get them by stopping at the concierge destk at your resort upon arrival they will print out a nice list for you. :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Someone beat me to it. I was also going to second that the front desk can print your ADR's for you.

I also second the notion that too much planning, or getting to emotionally attatched to your plans can ruina great vacation. It's fun to think about your vacation, but...oh what is that saying?..great vacations happen in spite of you, not because of you...or something to that effect. Meaning you can't plan everything that's going to happen, and you shouldn't try to plan that much, becuse things never go the way you think they will. whereas, if you let a vacation happen TO you, you'll discover wonderful surprises along the way, which really is the whole point of travel.

I'm not trying to be preachy here, my point is that maybe this is a blessing in disguise.

Incidentally, I've never needed actually needed an ADR number anyhow. The restaurants usually ask for your name and go from there, as long as you have the location and time.

The only numbers that really matter are the airline confirmation numbers if you want to print your boarding passes ahead of time, your WDW ticket numbers, and the phone numbers of various contacts - resort, airline, your house sitter, etc.

Hey, I know how fun it can be to plan...that's why I'm here!!! We have lot's of friends that NEVER plan their trips to WDW (oh the shame!). :)

It sounds like you enjoy the same things we do. However, once we get there we more often than not cancel a lot of our pre-fabricated plans and just go with the flow.

To be very honest...the times we remember the most are ALWAYS those that happen unexpectedly. For example:

- One time it rained in Epcot. When I say rained, I mean RAINED!!! The entire park was empty after an hour of it. The pools of water were knee deep in many places. We walked (as a family) to the Yakitori place in Japan. Nobody was there the entire way...we took our shoes off and walked together in a deserted park wading through huge pools of water and having a BLAST the entire time. It is the one single moment that still really touches my heart with my young children in WDW. Imagine...no planning could have ever done that!

- Last visit we went to the MK on our last night. Having been disappointed that the entire trip (in July) was waiting in a lot of lines we decided on the spur of the moment to go the last two hours it was open. We entered right as the parades were lining up. Ugh!...I thought. No way are we going to make it through the crowds!

However, something magical happened and we were on our best trip ever to MK! We weaved our way through the crowds to the Haunted Mansion, then we made it to ToonTown where my daughter wanted to see Mickie and Minnie's house...then to Goofy's Barnstormer, Space Mountain, the Indy Speedway, Splash Mountain, and finally Big Thunder Mtn Railroad! We WALKED on most rides. As we were riding Indy Speedway the fireworks above the castle went off. It was completely magical and I can never remember being as "lucky" as we were in July doing the rides like that! The best part though was at the end when we ran (literally) down to PoTC. They were closing the doors just as we got there. They let us ride. We were the ONLY ones in the entire attraction. It was SPOOKY and FUN! And an incredible memory!!!

Anyway, just relax and go and have a great time! The magic will happen!

I've done that before myself - well, actually done it twice. I do quite a bit of planning for our trips, and on two occasions, we've been halfway to Orlando when I realized that I had not printed out my sheets. Luckily for me, I had worked on them so much that I pretty much had it in my head anyway. I called the dining line, got my times and ADR #s again and spent the rest of the trip re-planning. It actually made the trip on the road a little more enjoyable.

babar - here's another "poor baby" for you :grouphug: !
Many years ago my computer crashed when I was still running a bookkeeping business (at the END of the year, of course!). My DH is a computer whiz and told me all was lost - I think I went to bed and cried for days ;) - had a complete meltdown - then, low and behold, they WERE able to get all of my info out of the dead harddrive :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: - so think positive!!
Hope they retrieve all of your planning work pixiedust: - we're arriving on the 26th, too- hopefully you'll be have the biggest smile in the park by then :goodvibes
PS: I back up EVERYTHING now!! :smooth:

::yes:: my DH tells everyone this, even if it is a brand new computer, back up everything.

babar 41 :wizard: that they might retrieve everything you want.

Data is generally pretty recoverable so as long as you're talking to the right technician - at least in my experience. I couldn't get any data off my aunt's hdd by setting it up as a slave to my hdd so I took it to a friend at Geek Squad and he was able to use a data recovery program and easily extract everything. The filenames were destroyed but the file extensions were still there so you could tell if it was a DOC, JPG, etc. Then again, he did it for me for free - I'm not sure what shop rates for that sort of thing would look like!

Poor Baby, I understand where you're coming from. I over plan. Starting with when we get up to when we go to sleep. Planning is part of the fun for me too. I hope you're able to recover the files. If not and you don't remember or have time to replan everything, maybe give DH a day to plan what he wants. (BF makes me do this so that I have a day to "relax").

Even though you'll be able to get all your ADR's from the front desk here's a :badpc: and a"poor baby' for you. I love to plan my trips and do the same thing you did spread sheets and all. It stinks that it may all be gone :grouphug:
