BeckWhy to our WISH forum!
many thoughts are scrambling through my mind for you -- i guess without getting too incredibly nosy may i share a few?
i like that you put the D-word in quotes, why? b/c for me it's key to fully understand, than accept *sigh* that this must be a lifestyle change for long-term success. sure, i've dieted, i even lost 25 lbs in 2003; then little by little as my habits became sloppy I regained 20 of it back. now i'm focusing on resetting my mind toward the healthier choices i was making.
just how many calories/fat are you eating? are bodies will go into a 'starvation' mode if we are fueling it adequately. in that mode our metabolism slows way down, preserving as much energy as possible as our system forsees the possibility of not eating at all. sure our eyes see the food in the pantry and frig, but our instinct is terrified there is nothing to eat at all. in this starvation responses you will find it impossible to lose. i think the only way to work out of that is to eat the appropriate amount of calories for your age/height/weight and still lose. when i was working out of this cycle i actually gained at first; then lost
if this is not your case than maybe it's just your metabolism adjusting to the changes you are making. i remember losing like 3 lbs then nothing for a couple weeks. as you progress you will learn more what to expect from your metabolism. also think about every 3-4 weeks chances are you will be retaining extra water?
my suggestion is to keep working your plan, hang around with us here on WISH (there is a link in my signature to read more about the WISH board and the clip-art) and taking it day by day, not being overwhelmed or beating yourself up, you WILL see a difference. depending on how much you have to lose I would think you could project a 1-2 lbs loss per week (average) and in three months that would be around 12-24 lbs. definately a size down -- go girl!
