I have no idea where my instruction book for my camera is so I've come to ask the experts a question.

I have a Kodak EasyShare C310 with a 1GB mem card in it.

I'm trying to set it up to take the best quality pictures it can (It's just a cheap little camera so I'm not expecting miracles).

I went througth the setup menu and formated the card (I hope that was the right thing to do). My camera says it can hold 1237 pictures on this card.

For picture size it is set on 4.0MP
I have the option to change it to 3.2MP, 3.1MP, 2.1MP, or 1.1MP. Should I leave it on 4.0? And what does MP mean?

I know nothing about camera's other than you turn it on, point and shoot :)

Thanks for any help you can give me

Your camera is probably similar to this one (Kodak EasyShare V610) ... there might be some information in this review that can help.

MP means MegaPixels ... the actual size of the picture. For 1.1MP, it should be ~1200 x 900 while 4.0MP is ~2304 x 1728; or, nearly twice a large.

If you want the best quality prints, just leave it at 4.0 ... you'll get less pictures on the card, but they'll print nicer.

Cards are cheap ... you can get 2G ones for $15-$20....

There may also be a "quality" setting along with the 4.0, like 4.0H, 4.0N, 4.0S, 4.0F, etc... what you want is the best quality one, maybe 4.0F (fine) or 4.0H (high). If it's not clear, look for the one that gives you the least amount of available photos - that's the one that'll give you best quality.

Have a great time!

You might also have a quality setting. It would likely have names like low, normal, fine, superfine, etc. You want the highest quality available with extra memory being so cheap. You will know you have the highest setting when it shows the least amount of pictures remaining.

Formatting has nothing to do with that, but it is good to format your card every once in a while. Be sure that you know that a format erases all pictures on it.

You beat me to it by seconds!!! If only I had left out the part about formatting. :lmao:
