Talking Hands, while I agree with you that the care you received was not ideal, I would caution all DISers to be prepared for more of the same as the nursing crisis(and it IS a crisis)gets worse. There are not enough nurses now to go around, and the average age of a nurse is 45!!!! The reason the nurse grabbed your hand and poked you was probably because she had 6 other fingersticks to do because that day they were short-staffed and someone from administration told them to "do the best you can", which translates into"give the patients the same level of care as if you were adequately staffed, which you are not, make them all happy as if you are adequately staffed, which you are not, and don't, under any circumstance,let them know that you are not adequately staffed."
