I must be sheltered with the DIS

I joined another message board the other day. Actually I had been lurking there for a while and my friend made me join. They are not very nice over there. I would be willing to bet that if they had the same policies as the DIS (which they obviously don't), at least half the threads would be closed. Its very hipocritical. Like a friend of mine started one that said "Hi Simba. 14 days. Hi to everyone else here too" I replied back "Hi!" and we started talking about the fireworks and 4th of July. People (1 person in particular) had a fit saying no side conversations and blah blah blah. This one person was just being mean and all that stuff. They were saying that the thread was pointless and irrelevant. I replied "well if its so poinless and is getting on your nerves, just ignore us." GGGGAAAARRRRR Whatever though. Just had to vent.

Actually side conversations are against the rules here as well, that's what PM's are for. I, however could care less.

The DIS does have a remarkably good atmosphere, with a good balance of flexibility and control.

I lurk a lot of places, but I usually only post here and one other board. I used to have a third, which I moderated, but I shut it down.

I have posted on other boards on other sites, but the ugliness there makes this place look like a kindergarten sand box!

mickman-I know side conversations are against the rules here. It was just that they were making such a huge deal out of it. Its ok for them to do it, but not for me? Even the moderator was nowhere near DIS standards. She would post threads that were side conversations and even joined in on certain attacks. The DIS really is like a kindergarten sand box. Everyones so nice here. And the posts actually make sense. Some of those posts are kind of scary and I'm usually not one to pay attention to grammar and stuff on message boards. And the worst part is that most of them are adults. They'll say something like "oh, your 16, that explains why you are so immature" Yes, they did say that after probably my 5th post or so. They were saying that my friend and I were like valley girls and we were "a little dizzy". And the mod just let it go on that particular post.
